It's really a shame to see McChrystal go because I think he had a lot of good ideas in terms of building a relationship with locals in Afghanistan and was cognizant of the need to minimize civilian deaths. Maybe his #2, David Rodriguez, will get the job and continue the same policies. McChrystal, as you indicate, has the right idea about building local relationships. Karzai needs to go. Afghanis don't trust him and by extension they don't trust us. He is worthless...hardly has any authority. Even worse, he was the point of contact between the Mujahideen and the CIA during the Soviet war in Afghanistan.
