KLHJ2 06-18-2010, 11:42 AM You're not the first person to speculate that one reason he didn't attend this week is that he can't his physical. And if that's the case, that'd be pretty pathetic
Well thats what happens when you (AH) are the one person who believes all of those JLC reports.
I am sure that you understand that my post about him being out of shape was stated half-jokingly. I don't really believe that. I am just throwing some conspiracy into the fire, even though apparently I am not the first to do so.
over the mountain 06-18-2010, 11:52 AM I have a theory that he was expecting to get traded so he didn't work out all offseason. Now he is out of shape and needed an excuse to not show up so he didn't look bad for not working out after he preached that he "knows what he needs to do to perform at the highest level". This will all be over in about two months (once he is back in shape). He will appologize and all will be hunky dorey, meanwhile no one will know that the real reason that he missed camp is because he couldn't keep his lips off of Mrs. Buttersworth...but I will know; do you hear me Phat AL? I WILL KNOW!
I dont think he would create all this hoopla and immense negative press and rep on his part just to not look foolish by showing up out of shape. That seems like overkill and you would have to believe that AH is working his butt off right now as i type to get in shape for next month.
its about the money. he thought he could collect 32 mil for 13 months then bitch his way out of the skins and on to a new team to sign a new 5 year 60 mil contract.
this was a money grab from the very start. as soon as danny and vinny put 32 mil guaranteed for the 1st year then having his contract drop to 4-6 mil for the remaining 3 years.
Do you all honestly think AH came here with any intention of playing for 4-6 mil the next 3 years?
the smart money is take the 32 mil guaranteed for 1 year, then bounce to another team and sign a contract that will pay you 10 mil per year.
this 3-4 talk is nonsense.
he doesnt want to show up out of shape is nonsense.
AH IS ALL ABOUT MONEY. if he stays with the skins he gets vastly underpaid for the next 3 years when he is in his prime (29-32). by the time the skins can void his contract, the contract he will get at 33 will be paltry compared to waht he can get today at 29.
if he forces his way out he gets 10-12 mil per year for the next 3 years plus signing bonus money.

Interesting theory, I like yours with a twist of mine.

Only one problem with that theory...NO ONE is going to give him ONE FREAKING DIME of guaranteed money to AH in the free market right now. NO ONE.
If he were able to get his freedom from the Skins (which he will not, unless he pays the bonus back), there isn't a GM in this league who would sign him up for anything other than an incentive laden pay-as-you-go contract. This would leave AH open to injury and he would actually have to "try" to play in order to reach incentives.
No way that is what he is angling for. Dude is just a mental head case that is throwing a temper tantrum. Neither he, nor his agent, had any long term strategy in place to get more money. Plus, it's a stupid strategy, even if it were real, because he's not going to get paid in the free market and he can't keep his bonus money if he wants out.
Lastly, if this was his plan all along, he would have NEVER converted his roster bonus to a signing bonus this March. A roster bonus is 100% unrecoverable by the team, whereas a signing bonus is subject to forfeit under the CBA. If he had a diabolical plot, he sabotaged himself by signing that contract conversion from Bruce this spring.
BigHairedAristocrat 06-18-2010, 12:33 PM I actually voted to start him. I disagree that what he's doing right now doesnt matter, but the fact remains that Haynesworth is (when he wants to be) the best defensive linemen in the league. He's got way too much talent to bench, cut or trade (especially considering how little we could get for him in return). As much as I loathe his current attitude, I'm holding out hope that at some point, a light will go off in his mind and he'll realize he's not going to force his way out and he can either give this defense a try or cry like a baby. People can change. Portis has been a lazy bum his entire career here (off the field), but this year, hes practicing his butt off. He's motivated. At some point, maybe Haynesworth will start listening to what guys like Fletcher and Daniels and McNabb are telling him, come join the team, and give it everything he has on Sundays.
However, if the preseason starts and it becomes clear that Haynesworth simply won't be reasoned with, we need ot get rid of him so he doesnt become a distraction for the team. He needs to be with the team 100% or off the team by the time the regular season starts. My gut tells me the Vikings would be willing to trade a decent pick for him in 2011. This is almost certainly Favre's last year, and would be the perfect time for the Vikings to go "all in" for a superbowl run.
SmootSmack 06-18-2010, 12:35 PM It's a common cliche, but it's true-all it takes is one guy (or in this case one GM). It's like Tim Tebow (with apologies to Mr. Scud). It didn't matter if 31 people said he's not a first round pick, all it took was one. Same with Haynesworth. All it will take is one
FRPLG 06-18-2010, 03:06 PM If James Arthur Monk calls you out then you are officially a complete and total douche. Art Monk wouldn't argue with you if you told him 2+2=5. He's that non-confrontational/vocal. It takes a special kind of douche baggery to actually get Monk to call you out.
FRPLG 06-18-2010, 03:13 PM You know what though, for as much of a clown as Vinny is, he makes good points here.
"When he signed, he said he wanted to prove everybody wrong," said Cerrato, the team's executive vice president of football operations during the 2008-09 seasons. "He said he wanted to show everybody that it's not about the money. He said he wanted to be the best that ever played. He said he wanted to be like Reggie White. He said Reggie
White was his hero, so live up to what you said. Don't have it change just because a coach changed."
"I just think Albert should have been here in the offseason, so he would have understood what his role in the defense was going to be," Cerrato said. "I think his perception and what reality is are two different things. They weren't going to just play him at nose tackle from everything that I read. And if he can't understand that then
that's his fault. If he was here, he would know where he fits in. By not being here he doesn't know. All he knows is what he wants to know."
Well there's no way that donkey actually said these things. Cerrato isn't cognitive enough.

Absolutely.
Next, the Pope will weigh in on Albert.

NFLPA president tees off on Albert Haynesworth
Posted by Mike Florio on June 18, 2010 1:36 PM ET
To the extent that the NFLPA eventually may have to defend the ability of Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth to keep all of the $21 million he received in April after skipping a mandatory minicamp this week, the president of the NFLPA has done nothing to assist Haynesworth's position.
"I mean, if you don't want to be there don't take the $21 million contract," Kevin Mawae told Bryan McGovern and Gil Brandt of Sirius NFL Radio. "How things turned out it's no surprise to guys that have played with him in Tennessee."
(Translation? "Turd.")
"You know, what do you say?" Mawae said, right after saying all that he needed to say. "I mean, you're getting paid a ton of money to play less and you're complaining about it. At the end of the day it's one thing to be a football player and get paid lots of money but there's a whole lot more to be said about being a man. . . . [H]e can be one of the best in the league and I've said that to him in his face before. But to this point he doesn't want to do it on a consistent basis."
Dear Redskins, sign Kevin Mawae right now. And put his locker right next to Haynesworth's.
I LOVE THE LAST LINE!! Can anyone get this to BA and MS ASAP
