Agree. The team seems quite unified in it's criticism of Albert's behavior.

There's a lesson learned from this debacle. Future high-priced FA's will no longer be able to expect an easy in-road to the Redskins.

Vinny the clown chimes in, "you know":

Redskins Insider - Cerrato: Haynesworth would like playing for Shanahan (http://voices.washingtonpost.com/redskinsinsider/albert-haynesworth/cerrato-haynesworth-would-like.html#more)

Vinny having an opinion on this is like the president of BP saying, 'You know, I would probably advise companies against drilling for oil in the Gulf.'

If there's a guy people should be more pissed off at than AH, is this guy. We're in this f'ing mess because of him.

You know what though, for as much of a clown as Vinny is, he makes good points here.

"When he signed, he said he wanted to prove everybody wrong," said Cerrato, the team's executive vice president of football operations during the 2008-09 seasons. "He said he wanted to show everybody that it's not about the money. He said he wanted to be the best that ever played. He said he wanted to be like Reggie White. He said Reggie
White was his hero, so live up to what you said. Don't have it change just because a coach changed."

"I just think Albert should have been here in the offseason, so he would have understood what his role in the defense was going to be," Cerrato said. "I think his perception and what reality is are two different things. They weren't going to just play him at nose tackle from everything that I read. And if he can't understand that then
that's his fault. If he was here, he would know where he fits in. By not being here he doesn't know. All he knows is what he wants to know."

The thing is after initially being frustrated about the switch, he came around to speaking to many of the guys at Redskins Park. Not the least of whom were Shanahan, Haslett, and Allen. And he told all of them, plus several players, hey I just want to help the team win and be the best player I can be. And after multiple conversations especially with Haslett, his attitude was "ok I think I understand what you want from me. I can do this. I like what's going on. I'm excited. I want to get in the best shape possible so I'm going to work out on my own in the spring but I'll be there for mini-camp." And he told that to multiple teammates, and he told it to friends and business partners outside the Redskins. That he had initial frustrations but after talking through it, he felt good.

But it turns out it was all a lie. Which is worse than just saying from the get go you want no part of it. And committing to that. I mean I guess you could argue he changed his mind back, but I'm not sure I buy that.

Look at it like this. As pissed off as Snyder was with Coles; Coles ultimately did the right thing. He spoke to Gibbs and I believe Musgrave and Hixon and said look I don't know where I fit in this offense I'm not sure it's for me. They spoke, he still wasn't convinced. Gibbs said ok, I respect that, let's see if we can find a better situation for you. Coles didn't say ok sounds good. I'll see you in June. And then the whole offseason goes through and suddenly Coles is like "yeah I didn't mean it"

Alls I know is Haynesworth has alienated many of even his staunchest supporters in the past couple of days

I mean did he get the playbook and be like this is what I'll be doing.. nahhhhh.. or did he think more and more he'd not be used much at end? maybe some conversations lead to him thinking that?

because yeah he said he'd play where needed.. maybe he was just refreshed about the new regime so he decided to go along at first and after more thought decided it wasn't for him or what?

that's what I'd like to know

Even the Redskins alumni are pissed at this fat piece of S., including my favorite all time Redskin (Arthur Monk).

Skins alumni pile on Haynesworth

There was no free agency for many of the former Redskins players at Thursday's alumni event during the team's final minicamp practice, Nor were there bonuses worth millions of dollars.

So it took very little for the alums to transition from praising the Redskins new front office for setting up the event to slamming the player currently at odds with those same executives: defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth.

Players ripped the star tackle for his attitude and his lack of commitment and did not hesitate to suggest how the team should handle him.

"My two cents worth: Albert Haynesworth needs to get his ass out of town and go somewhere else," said kicker Mark Moseley, the 1982 NFL MVP. "And I think if the Redskins could do that, they would do that. I don't know the background of all of it, the money parts of it, but when you have a player like that that is that disgruntled, get him out of here. He's a cancer to these guys."

"These guys here today are the players that want to play," Moseley continued, nodding toward the practice field. "They're the players that deserve to play and when you have a player like that, I don't care how much money he makes it's not worth having a disgruntled player in here to spread cancer among the team."

Moseley said it was frustrating for former players to see a current star hold out of camp when he has been given $26 million in bonuses after just one season with a team.

Former running back Ricky Ervins, sporting several championship rings, was among the most vocal of the former players. It took just hearing the start of Haynesworth's name for the former Redskin to tee off.

"They should fine him every time he's not here because that is so selfish," he said. "Bottom line. You get paid all this money, I don't care if they ask you to play a 5-6 or a 29, you be in there playing because you do it for your team, you're taking one for your team. ...If you're an athlete and you're talented you can adjust. That's the bottom line."

Ervins wasn't done.

"It's a team game, bro. I heard he just got his check on April 1. He's not here and this is mandatory. I can understand when you don't come to OTAs because it's not mandatory. Okay, great. But when it's mandatory, you gotta be here and he's not here? You've got to find someway to recoup some of that money, fine him when he's not here. I'm talking $100,000 when he's not here."

Asked if it says something that a team leader spoke out, Ervins came back with a resounding 'yes.'

Linebacker London Fletcher's comments speak "for everybody, coaches, administration probably, everybody because he's letting the team down. Because this is a team sport, it ain't track and field when you in there running the 100 by yourself. This is a team sport and we need everybody to make this work."

Even Hall of Fame wide receiver Art Monk, never one to talk his way into anything -certainly not into controversy-weighed in when asked about the situation.

"I don't want to get into all that, but he made a commitment to this team and he needs to honor his commitment," Monk said. "Whether he likes it or not he made a commitment. He should be man enough to do that."
