Nice scenario, now we return to reality and 2010.

If this guy wound up with a "lily white" jury in Manning, SC (35% white) or Columbia, SC (49% white), depending on the jurisdiction for the charge, then his attorney should be prosecuted. There would be plenty of justification to declare a mistrial or an appeal would certainly win.

Do you understand how juries are selected in a criminal trial?

SC Judicial Department (http://www.judicial.state.sc.us/jurorinfo/jurorSelection.cfm)

You're scenario is also making the assumption that even if the jury was "lily white", a white person is going to automatically convict a black person because of racism. I don't live in SC but I do work with the some of the Navy civilians in the Charleston area (the folks I work with down there happen to be white) and none appear to be racists. I find that premise of your scenario to be offensive and racist.

Grow up in South Carolina!!!! grow up in Manning. South Carolina ain't VA. I grew up there i am a good sandlapper. I can say what i want to about SC.

but,
a) he is not facing attempted rape - the charge is showing porn to a college student...
b) he won, beating a 4 term incumbent, so obviously there was some support
c) do you have ANY support for your accusation?
d) I still don't see how this becomes like days past. are you saying that blacks have been put up as straw puppets and won the opposing party's nomination in the past?

Wait this one out you will see. I know that state. Lindsay Graham is the exception not the rule. U get himmed up by a local solicitor no telling what might happen. SC aint your average conservatives. Trust me that charge is related to him running.

Don't assume they are smart. The state treasure got caught with a half a kilo of cocaine. The governor in Argentina. This is gonna turn out to be some stupid shit that backfires on them. I get what happeded politically. Low interest for Dems high interest from the base of Republicans. Vote Demint and then vote Greene for laughs. He won. Why is he running, with a charge like that?

The GOP will never be done in SC, to think otherwise is simply foolish...nationally they're toast in the long run (http://professional.wsj.com/article/SB20001424052748704312104575298512006681060.html?m g=reno-wsj#printMode) unless there's change in the way they do business. SC is one fucked up state...Dems should stop whining and instead should do their homework on who is running under their banner.

According to Newsweek's Tony Dokoupil, "when people's opinion of Congress is near an all-time low, as it is today, majority party incumbents slip an average of 12 points in polls, compared with years in which the public views Congress more favorably. The data give credence to predictions that this fall could be among the worst Democratic showings in decades."

Here's hoping he's right.

Interesting story but ultimately it's a non-event. There's no way the GOP will lose this seat.

Says someone from Seattle...

I assure you, the state of WA is a better place to live and raise a family than SC. We live longer, produce more, are better educated, have higher income, and the food is better too...come visit.

p.s. If SC is the swears, PA is the toilet.

There will be losses but can the GOP overcome its handicaps and win a majority? We shall see.
