Old time players were total G's.. dirty nasty, underpaid, tough sons of bitches.

That being said they don't work as hard, aren't scrutinized as much, nor had to worry about being called out for not being there in April.

Have any of you been watching the Redskins Legend Series on Larry Michael's "Redskins Nation".

He has been airing interviews about alot of the 1972 guys.

I was sitting in on a conversation with alot of those players recently and one of them complained about the lack of discipline from the current players. A few mintues later, the stories were flying about the drinking and the mischief. Then one of the people involved turned to the player who made the lack of discipline comment and said, "and you said the older teams had discipline".

This did cause a chuckle with the group.

Thank you for the welcome.

I am a lifetime Steeler fan. My sports room is painted yellow with black trim. I also do like the Redskins and was even a season ticket holder until just a few years ago.

The other weekend I was witness to 4 of the 72 guys hanging out with Bruce Allen. At the end of the time, I became the photographer with them. Since this was the second time I have done this recently, I got a little tired of telling them to say "Redskins" before I shot the picture. So, as I was snapping the picture, I told them to say "Go Steelers". One of them (don't remember which one) commented on it. I responded that I really wanted to say "Go Cowboys" but the words could not come from my lips.

Again, if you pm me, I will email you the link to a picture I posted online of the 5 of them sitting around the table (you will also see my empty chair). Actually, it was 6 of them, because Sweat Pea came down just to see everyone again.

I'll say this, until, the current team actually does something they'll never hold a candle to the old timers. In other words put up or shut up. You don't like it tape it on the wall before every game this yr.

In regards to your post tryfuhl, I'd take the old geesers in their primes before I'd take any of the current guys. I'll agree the current players are healthier since they seem to know they need to stay in shape year around so they don't have to work twice as hard in the camp. But back then there were little rules protecting the players as there are now, helmets were not as good, face masks had one bar or two and a lot of them got broken noses while playing. I think they were simply tougher back then playing through all types of injuries. They also didn't have Gatorade to replenish their body fluids during a game or at half time, water and IV's were used.

I know! The nerve! This is taking precious time from the constant mindless bashing of Moss and Haynesworth. [/sarcasm]
