Locking down Nick will be huge for the offense for years to come. If we can address the blue line needs, a winger/center and a seasoned/proven goal tender we should be in good shape.
I would think we will be very active in the trade market after this seasons post season melt down.

good call on the thread.
i wouldnt mind seeing mike green go somewhere if we can get good value for him. we have enough goal scorers on the team without him.
i agree we need backstrom in the fold. he will great for us for years to come.

i was pretty upset with greens post season play but he should stay imo. he, along with a bunch of other players, just need to learn how to crank it up a few notches for post season play. semin might be a player i'd consider trading though.the caps need to add some toughness to the roster.
definately a good move to lock up nick.

yeah i like green, but i think he could be worth a whole lot to a team that needs a goal scoring defenseman. if we keep him, right on he is great.
you are right on both semin and lack of toughness. semin could be worth a pretty penny and we need someone to put some fear in the eyes of opponents. only if orakpo could skate....haha only kidding.

I wonder how they're going to approach the team this offseason. According to CapGeek.com it seems that they're in position to bring in a lot of talent from Hershey. Guys like Perrault and Bouchard. Maybe even Beagle. Then of course you have Neuvy and Alzner coming up full time. We know that Carlson's now a lock to make the roster.
Fehr and Flash are now young players with a bit more potential but are at the point where they are definitely NFL caliber players. They're going to most likely sign Schultz to an RFA contract. Knubble obviously stays.
The wildcards right now are the two Center/Wings in Johanson and Gustafon. Based on the recent news it seems like they're more excited about Johanson then they are Gustafon. Anyway the point is how they develop will have a pretty strong impact on the Caps offseason strategy. I wonder what their plan is on Brendon Morrison.
So with that said here's my early prediction for the Caps Lineup
Ov-Backs-Knubble
Semin-Flash-Fehr
Laich-Berlanger-Gustafon
Bradley-Steckle-Chimera
Schultz-Green
Alzner-Carlson
Sloan-Poti
Varly
Neuvy
And to those wondering apparently Berlanger is the only trade deadline player they plan on resigning.

looks like we are going to be young. hope that means we have the extra energy to carry through the season, as we will be lacking experience.

Looks like the Capitals might be going after Anton Volchenkov.
