Champ revisited

A while back, I got a big, very nasty, bucket of crap thrown at me, personally, for saying that Champ Bailey was having a bad season. (I have seen most of the plays in every Denver game, and he has been getting beaten regularly).

WELL, it turns out, Denver just fired their defensive backs coach. Gee, guess THEY were not to happy with the way things were going either. Don't expect that to fix Champ's problems. I don't know what happened to Champ. His first couple seasons were absolutely awesome. But 2003 he had a major dropoff, and it has gotten worse this season. It was disappointing last season, but I am kind of enjoying it this year, after the way he acted toward our team before he left.

Now, as an aside: Every time I expressed an unpopular decision (like the one above, and several others), on this site, I got personal attacks thrown at me - many of them way over the line. After trying several approaches to curtail it, with no success, I chose to stay away the last few weeks. I just paid this very brief visit to gloat, and will now slink away. Have at me guys - Elvis has left the building.

Don't act like an innocent victim, Hogskin, with all due respect you frequently throw gas on any fires that get started.

Give me a break! :stop: Are you really that sensitive? If you believe what you post stand by it. Don't let other pepole get under your skin. It's only a discussion board. And I am sure most your friends don't read it. So what's the big deal? After all at the end of the day where all Redskins fans.

Champ got burnt plenty last year so this is really no big suprise. But the suprise is they actually fire their DB Coach Gibbs. How ironic is that, Gibbs. But why if they were 2nd in pass defense in the NFL. Could it be Champs ego was in the way? Why did he get fired? Anybody with any knowledge on this?

Check this qoute out from Bailey. This is from the Broncos site. All the players and coaches were suprised except for Bailey, mmmmm?

~~The players learned of the situation Wednesday morning, and their reaction mirrored that of their coach and former teammate.

"I'm stunned," safety Kenoy Kennedy said. "I didn't know anything about it. I don't know who knew. But this is the NFL. In the five years I've been here, I've been accustomed to expect the unexpected, whether it's a player getting cut or a coach getting fired during midseason. They say a lot of things happen during the bye week."

Concurred Ferguson: "It's very shocking. None of us anticipated actually hearing that coming in."

Noted Bailey: "I wouldn't say I wasn't a little bit (surprised). But it's Coach's decision. Obviously we don't make that call, so we've just got to roll with it."

Added cornerback Lenny Walls: "It did surprise me. But it's a business. Decisions have to be made for us to reach our ultimate goal. I guess Coach Shanahan made that decision. But I don't know what happened ... I have no idea." ~~~~

Seems pretty strange to me that a 2nd ranked pass D would fire their DB coach unless it was for personal reasons.

No kidding. What does a coach have to do?

Just went into the Broncos Web forum and the scuttle butt seems to be they played the Falcons a few weeks back and got their butt kicked. Well the Oline coach of the Falcons is the infamous former O-line coach (Alex Gibbs) of the Broncos. He also is the father of David Gibbs the fired DB coach of the Broncos. Pretty interesting stuff.

I didn't lose any sleep after he was traded and still don't. I heard about his comments about not caring about winning, just getting paid while here in D.C. That's why Smoot is on a team with the best defense and the Chump is on his career breaking season of regular ass whippings. How come we didn't hear sports announcers ask the question did the Broncos make the right decision to trade Portis after the Bengals game. Because Chad Johnson absolutely destroyed the Chump. Good riddens, he's Shanahans' problem now.

i liked champ when he first came to the skins, shoot,he was probably my 2nd favorite player, L.A. being first but i realy lost a lot of respect for him in the way he left. it would be a beautiful thing if the skins made the playoffs and the broncos didn't.
