Not quite sure where this would go (probably thread hell)
Plaxico fibs about phone call, loses recreation privileges - Shutdown Corner - NFL Blog - Yahoo! Sports (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/Plaxico-fibs-about-phone-call-loses-recreation-?urn=nfl,238614)
According to the New York Post, Plaxico Burress lost his recreational privileges for a month because he lied to a prison guard. He told the guard he had permission to use his cell phone to call his attorney and the guard took his word for it. He had no such permission, and this particular guard doesn't like fibbers.
my biggest question is how(or since when) are cell phones allowed in prison?

Cell phones are considered contraband in most US Prisons. Plaxico must have a minimum security classification.

As far as i know, at a minimum security level prison, inmates who have cell phones are allowed to use them during certain times of the day, provided they did not lose their privelages....I know at our correctional facility that is just 10 mins away from here (minimum security farm prison), they are allowed to use them.

I was watching a show and cell phones are not allowed in max security jails and guys get them smuggled into the jails all the time. I don't think I would want to use a cell phone that was smuggled into a jail. Might not pass the sniff test. I'm just surprised this is actually printed somewhere. What do they do monitor everything he is doing or not doing in jail.

Phone calls made to the outside world by inmates are usually made from land-line phones monitored closely by prison officials.
Smuggling Cell Phones into prisons has become a serious security concern of late, some states like Calif. for instance, actually have dogs trained to sniff out the contraband as inmates have devised creative methods of smuggling them into the various institutions. With the shake-down procedures used in prisons on a daily basis, that type of contraband is difficult to conceal.

No need for concern, I understood what you meant. I do what you did all the time.
