Sorry if this was already posted, but Kyle Shanahan's quoate makes me feel great about our team direction. When was the last time you heard something like this? It was always about the scheme before.
Tight end Fred Davis emerged as a target for the Redskins in the 2009 after Chris Cooley suffered a season-ending ankle injury in October. But now, with Cooley healthy, there are questions about how the Redskins will manage the position.
"The only position where one guy is out there is quarterback," offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan said following the team's first minicamp. "Whatever it is, our best player is going to be out on the field. If we feel two tight ends are better than three receivers, we'll put two tight ends out there and go with two receivers. It's whatever your personnel is, and you have to adjust that way as a coach."

yes, especially in light of our TE talent vs our WR talent.

Sounds like a pretty standard response from a coach.
I think we'll see a lot of 2 TE looks, with guys as talented as Cooley and Davis you just have to get them on the field.

I'd really like to see one of them standing up in the slot occasionally, use them kinda like Indy uses Dallas Clark

Exception Zorn!!!. He designed player personnel groupings via connect the dot and pretend I am bill Walsh, Campbell is Miontana, and Thomas is Jerry Rice method. His scheme was so pristine in his mind he could use anyone anywhere at anytime and if they follow his directions it will be sucessful. Kyle, that is a standard response but it is good coaching using personnel. I am encouraged. Common sense.

Shame his father didn't think like that before insisting on a switch to the 3-4.

Or rotate them often so there is fresh legs on the field.

They aren't completely switching Haslett has said that multiple times, he will adjust to the personnel too! They will use multiple 4 man fronts.

Just heard Cooley on a podcast addressing the 2 TE issue. He says they will run plays to get guys open more by adjusting to their talent. The previous coaching staff depended on the scheme to get wins. In other words, just run the play and it will be successful no matter the personell. I would expect to see the best players on the field on the plays designed to get the most out of them.
