I just want to see a WR show signs of growth and accomplishment, if more than one does, well I am not sure my mind can comprehend that.

Thomas has shown me some ability with the ball in his hands. I wouldn't say he's particularly adept at gaining yards after the catch, but there's at least something there that could be developed if he can first learn the finer points of being an NFL receiver. Kelly, seam route aside, probably isn't a YAC guy, though I think if we could get some protection for the QB, he's a sound enough route runner to make a play or two downfield (15+ yards) every week.

Remember, Reggie Brown showed a lot more in his first two years than either Thomas or Kelly did in theirs, but McNabb + Eagles version of WCO couldn't develop him any further than that. I'd say it's a 50/50 shot that we've already seen the best that Thomas and Kelly (independent of one another...so 25% chance that they are both total busts and 25% chance that neither is a bust) have to offer in the NFL.
At 6.5 YAC/Reception that puts Thomas in the top 10, without a catch over 40 yards, that's pretty good. Isn't skewed like Kelly's 7.5 with that 84 yarder. The tackles he broke, fighting for every yard, etc definitely showed promise. I also think that Kelly could get the type of catches that you mention on a somewhat regular basis. He can at least keep the chains moving, he ran a few good hitches last year. I don't think that he'll regularly get long ones unless it's maybe a 1 on 1 situation where he can make the S miss, but who knows.

Would you trade Haynesworth or McNabb to acquire Devin Thomas or Macolm Kelly? Because both AH and DM were apparently worth 2nd round picks.

In the end, drafting 3 receivers in the 2nd round was a TOTAL waste. We STILL don't have a good role for Fred Davis unless we use a TON of 2 TE sets (which means our WR's were busts).

Wish we just freaking drafted O-line, D-line, RB or LB, or anything helpful back then. Sigh.. I hope against reality that DT and MK have the fabled comeout 3rd year (esp. w/McNabb) & prove us all wrong..

Fred could earn starting TE, who knows. If nothing else we can build trade value if we don't end up using one or the other as much, or value what we can get for them more.

This year should be interesting.. According to this article, Davis and Cooley is competing for #1 spot.. This is bittersweet feeling, I have always thought Cooley as top 5 or even maybe 3 TEs in NFL.. And yet he's competing for #1 spot.. But I'm most definitely glad Shanahan said that if both are better than WRs, then they will put both in; which I'm pretty sure that would be the case..

Redskins Insider - Fred Davis, Chris Cooley are focus of competition at tight end (http://voices.washingtonpost.com/redskinsinsider/kyle-shanahan/fred-davis-chris-cooley-are-fo.html)

So you're saying that Fred Davis could now beat out our ProBowl TE. I'm just saying -- WHY DID WE DRAFT HIM IN THE FIRST PLACE?? We already had a Pro-Bowl TE. And so FD starts -- what do you do with Cooley now? And which TE is going to block Demarcus Ware?

I know we're all really saying the same thing -- DUMB draft move.

Maybe you are right, however there isn't much we can do about this but to find a way to utilize them.. Which is exactly what Shanahan is going to do.. I'm thinking that maybe this will elevate the running game for us, we would have one of the duo blocking a CB and they will achieve most of blocking.. Beside I'm starting to like to watch Davis playing.. He moves fast and breaks tackles.. Also not to mention, I like his dances as well.. Even tough one of the dances cost us a penalty lol

There is no such thing as having too much talent at any position...at the right price. Starters only make up 22/53 of the team in a violent sport. Dallas seems content with their three-RB backfield.

McCardell? But Joe Gibbs released him and he made all pro with Jacksonville, didn't he?
