Seriously you are surprised? SolidSnake84 04-30-2010, 09:56 AM Seriously you are surprised? I remember the original movie (1980) being scary, and psychological. I remember the sequels being pure corny shit-fests. For months i've been reading Fangoria and hearing people talk it up, how the remake was going to put the franchise back to its roots, and after hearing Robert Englund (original Freddy) give Jackie his endorseent as the new Freddy, i was stoked. They have 2 sequels on the way according to Jackie Earle Haley, so maybe they will get it right...i'm just kind of blah.... mredskins 04-30-2010, 10:33 AM I remember the original movie (1980) being scary, and psychological. NOES the first was scary as crap then the franchise became like horomedy or campy if you will, apparently this film impressed the campy part. saden1 04-30-2010, 11:01 AM I'm too old to watch these silly-stupid teen movies. SolidSnake84 05-03-2010, 12:53 PM Okay i did go watch it on Saturday. I enjoyed it. I wasn't blown away, but i wasnt expecting to be. I think people's major complaint is that Freddy isnt played by Robert Englund. The movie was a faithful remake, so of course people knew what to expect... For my whole life time when somebody says Freddy, i think of Robert Englund. It will take some time for me to get used to seeing someone else play the role... That being said, i did find Jackie to be much more scary, instead of just a wise-cracking prankster... dblanch66 05-03-2010, 01:00 PM Hollywood needs to chill out with the remakes. They won't though. It's cheaper and easier to re-hash some old idea and try to squeeze as much money out of the gullible, uninformed general public. Originality, imagination and innovation are sorely lacking in the film business except in foreign countries where they still care about script, character development, mood and theme. Of course there are exceptions but generally, most movies out of hollywood suck. Most of my favorites over the last few years have been films like Pan's Labyrinth, the Orphanage, 3 Times and a slew of other foreign films. mredskins 05-03-2010, 01:15 PM They won't though. Never will happen if we keep going to see them. NOES cost $30 million to make and made over $30 million in the first weekend. Scott Mendelson: Nightmare on Elm Street remake easily takes box office crown. Weekend box office for 05/03/10 (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/scott-mendelson/nightmare-on-elm-street-r_b_561064.html) itvnetop 05-03-2010, 06:17 PM don't forget "Let the Right One In" Which they're also remaking haha. I can't believe they're also remaking The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and OldBoy. Read freakin' subtitles people! |
