tryfuhl 04-28-2010, 12:41 PM I am sick of this. No way he was right to punch anyone. With that said, he deserves the chance he is getting. Lets stop trying to decide if it was OK to knock someone out, at the end of a football game.
Did you watch the game? Dude was punking him the whole time.. doing push-offs the pile, grinding guys into the ground, etc.. then did it again after the game. I've almost never seen anyone more worthy of getting it on the field.
SmootSmack 04-28-2010, 12:42 PM Definitely. They love him in Pittsburgh and he's actually quite effective when he has to fill in.
They picked back up Leftwich for a 7th...not exactly the kind of QB you want starting. If they thought he was capable of starting, even as a fill-in, he would not have been let go in the first place.
Dennis Dixon could even push for the starter job, but I'd expect it to be Batch, Dixon, and then Leftwich in Roethlisberger's absence. Then, I'd bet Leftwich would be more likely to be let go than Dixon who is in their long-term plans or Batch who they just signed for 2 more years.
Leftwich probably won't see the field in the regular season barring injuries.
Not following you here, but I guess we'll just see what happens
ChickenMonkey 04-28-2010, 12:42 PM Has anyone signed either of these guys as a free agent yet? OT- Tony Washington, Abilene-Christian or WR- Danario Alexander, Missouri
tryfuhl 04-28-2010, 12:43 PM It was after a game when emotions are running high. Big deal. You simply don't get in a guy's face and talk shit after a loss. Blount should've got a one game suspension and that's it. The media made too big a deal out of it.
Blount didn't help himself by continuing to wil' out after the incident, that was the bigger deal to me. As far as a cheap shot, bullshit, the guy turned him around then got caught with one. It wasn't that he didn't see it coming, he just didn't react in time.

Don't think so. Alexander can't pass a physical right now, I don't think. So that's probably holding him back
BigHairedAristocrat 04-28-2010, 12:47 PM Wow, i dont even see Batch making the final roster unless Pittsburg goes with 4 QBs while Rothlesberger is on suspension. Batch is 35 years old. The Steelers could release him and he wouldnt even get a sniff from another team. If The Steelers were confident in him, they wouldnt have traded for Leftwich. Dixon is a guy Tomlin likes. He and Leftwich will probably battle it out to be the #1 and #2 guys during Rothlisbergers suspension.

interesting point for sure....
but keep in mind, between injuries and years as a back up, his legs are much fresher with much lower miles than Donovan McNabb. in fact, i'd MUCH rather have him as the backup in washington than INT-machine Rex.
tryfuhl 04-28-2010, 01:00 PM We supposedly picked up Trey Jacobs DT 6-4 295 lbs out of Liberty.
Rick Maese: Redskins sign DT Trey Jacobs [Liberty University] - EXTREMESKINS.com (http://www.extremeskins.com/showthread.php?t=322788)
guy's pretty fast, blocked some kicks at Liberty.. could be inconsistent though

As was Leftwich, something that we know all too well.

At 6'5" and 215 lbs and a 46" vertical leap, Danario Alexander has catapulted to the top of my wish list. I understand his injury history but you can't deny his 1st-2nd round talent when healthy. We would be risking nothin by signing him as an undrafted free agent. 113 catches, 1400+ yards and 14 TD's this year. Put up better numbers than Jeremy Maclin in the same offense with a less herald QB. If we take a chance on him, added to the 3 Olineman, The BEAST FB, and our new kick/punt returner, i would call this draft a COMPLETE success! lol
