I'm a bit confused by this pick.

Ciron Black is still on the board...he'd be a good one this late I think.

Morris is obviously a good player - he definitely will be in great hands under Shanahan, and not to mention with help of Cooley and Davis, who are awesome TEs! Do we really need another TE? No but Shanahan and Allen have so much knowledge of football than all of us altogether.. Before we start to screaming Vinny 2.0, shouldn't we wait until we see their plans before we decide to cut their heads off or not..

Obviously Shanahan didn't think highly of those players that we all wanted..

His production is off the charts. Double digit TDs and 600+ yards in each of the last two years. Sellers will be cut. Portis will be happy again.

So some nobody is going to immediately replace Cave Man Sellers? Doubt it.

After watching this, he seems hard to pass on:

OK, I feel better now. Lining this guy up at TE on running plays will make all of our RBs better.

ok i've calmed down a bit and he does look like a solid fb blocking te so i guess he will back up sellars for now

I think what Shanahan is looking for, at least on offense, is guys who are nasty. Trent Williams as most of you already know is a finisher. This guy is no different. I mean anyone can put together a highlight tape but in watching him I'm very impressed.

I don't think any of us are smart enough to appreciate the genius of Mike Shanahan.

thats what i was alluding to.

after some thought, watching some video and lots of breathing, this guy at fullback could be solid. like others have said, he seems to know how to block, and he could be money in the redzone.

He looks more like a fullback with his body type, and he has really good hands. My favorite attribute is his blocking ability. Shanny is definitely looking at him as a FB IMO. Backup FB probably comes down to D. Mo or Eddie Williams.

I watched a few of the videos shown and it helped a little bit.. I still don't understand how we picked a TE that wasn't at the combine, wasn't in the top 15 for that certain position and someone even Mike Mayock avoided making a comment about in his nfl.com analysis.
Another interesting comment: WalterFootball.com: 2010 NFL Offseason Page - Washington Redskins - Team Needs, Season Preview, Free Agents, Salary Cap (http://walterfootball.com/offseason2010was.php)

Now I know we will not trade Cooley, Fred Davis is our future Cooley and we signed a blocking TE. I'm sure that this guy is either projected to be a fullback or simply just "competition". I just can't imagine a guy coming from such a disregarded college football program doing any of form of blocking in the NFL.

I have faith in our coaches none the less.
