Clausen will be a great QB...I was very impressed considering he play with shitty ND. Mark my words, teams will regret not taking him.

Vladamir DuCasse, Selvish Capers, and Edwin Veldheer could all be available when we select in round 4. Capers would be a very interesting RT, but I think DuCasse would be my first choice. Matt Tenant will definitely be available, I know he has a pretty good following here on this forum. So will Mike Johnson (G Alabama). Jason Fox seems like he's going to be sitting around for a while.

I still fear though that the fourth round pick will be a QB.

Also I know people don't want to hear this but the team might have big plans for Heyer at RT. I know I'm on the Ryan Clady kick but one of the problems Clady had that was fixed by the Bronco's coaching staff was a habit of bending at the waist. Unfortunately Heyer isn't the same caliber of athlete that Clady is, but still it's not out of realm of possibility that Heyer might rebound this year and I think that if the Redskins pass up an intriguing tackle prospect in the fourth round then you might be able to take that as a vote of confidence for Heyer.

Thats the thing though about Mitchell. If he's as talented as I think he is then Shanahan will play him, if not then he'll be on the bench. Remember this is a coach who had Rod Smith and Ed McCaffery as his two best receivers. Not only did he get two post 2nd round guys to produce (with Rod Smith being undrafted) but he got a white guy to the pro bowl as a Receiver. That in and of itself is an accomplishment.

I agree Dirtbag. Shanny is calling the shots on who plays, not Vinny. I think we'll see who plays based on production, not what position they were drafted.

So, a few thoughts on the draft and some posts in this thread:

-I think Clausen will be a solid NFL QB, but McShay has called it for a while saying he wouldn't be a 1st round pick (wonder if PFT will say anything about that)

-I get that the ND track record for QBs isn't great recently, but I can't remember the last time a Northwestern QB did anything in the pros. Let alone one with fewer than 20 career starts and fewer TDs than INTs

-Not surprised Spiller went top 10 (SPILLLLERRRR!!!!) but didn't really see him donning a Bills cap. It'll be fun to see Campbell hand off to Spiller next season

-I think our next "Marko Mitchell" (i.e. the diamond in the rough WR that Shanahan turns into the next Rod Smith) isn't on our roster yet, but maybe at the end of Saturday

-It looked like a trade for AH was close yesterday, but Skins held their ground and wouldn't settle

-Really surprised about Tebow going to Denver

-Not surprised that the Jags made another questionable move. That team badly needs a proven NFL vet running that team. Year after year they make really questionable round 1 decisions (although Alualu could end up being pretty decent)

-On a personal level, Thursday night primetime draft is kind of cool. On a professional level, it was a total pain in the ass

If the best platyer available is a QB, so be it, although without a trade partner for Campbell, it's unlikely. I know a lot of fans are disappointed with Heyer's play but, it's not like he was the only one who gave up sacks. Campbell himself contributed to a significant amount of them. It's likely that a few commonly known prospects will be available at the top of the fourth round. I wish we didn't have the guys we have on the trading block. They need to be ready to play for us if no deal. Haynesworth is the only guy who will be difficult to replace talent wise but, you have to take in consideration his inconsistency and/or ability to stay healthy. Who wants to draft Cody?

Anybody else surprised the Giants went with Pierre-Paul? Aren't they stocked at the DE position already?

Yes, but they're trying to trade Osi so the pick kinda makes sense; but yeah I'm surprised they didn't go OG (Mike Iupatu). Piere Paul played only 1 yr of football and only had 6.5 sacks.

Listening to Shanahan's presser, I am most excited that he isn't going to "give up the boat" for any additional picks. We need to establish a baseline and go from there. Hopefully the Redskins FO will have a better name around the league, and with us fans now that they actually are acting like professionals who have been here before.
