I have no regrets about Davis, I am still unsure about Kelly and Thomas.I will never forgive Vinny nor forget that DeSean Jackson was on the board when we selected Davis. Then again, Ray Rice was on the board when he selected Kelly

Agreed. I am still not hating on that 2nd round trio at all- hindsight is a b. IIRC, that was two drafts ago. Our line wasn't exactly filled with world beaters, but it wasn't even close to how bad it is now. Samuels, Rabach, and Thomas (coming off injury, he played all 16 games in 2008 anyway) were solid.

The problem was the lack of offensive playmakers the previous year. Everyone on this board was complaining about the non-existence of a vertical game all year long, so we went out and got weapons. Ironically, the most grief during the 08 draft was actually towards Davis (since we had Cooley). At the time, I felt we got a steal in Fred (who was the best TE in college football).

Funny how so many people on this board think that "Big Love" Clausen is the next great one but every single team in the league passed on him.

It's simply amazing when you think about the fact Kiper's early mocks had him going a high as #4 and to who? There were a lot of people on board, but I never believed it because there were people then saying he may not even be taken in the 1st round at all....they were right.

At least we got a stater at LT....and didn't do anything stupid...thats a plus for the skins...remember 2 WR and a TE in the 2nd? a TE? and no OLINE help until too late?

God, Vinny  Only he would mess up a great move like trading down for two second round picks including one at the top of the second. Ironically though Thomas and or Kelly could end up being great picks now that we have McNabb but I still say it's overkill. I still think though that Marko Mitchell will turn out to be something special, especially given Shanahan's competition theme which hopefully won't discriminate against rookies like our previous "offensive guru."

Commissioner Goodell treated at a NY hospital for bruised ribs he suffered after several bear hugs from emotional drafted NFL players.

I liked that. In fact my opinion of Goodell has gone up considerably over the past week. The prime time thing really went over well. I still hope though that the 18 games rule doesn't get passed.

Not true...we were all calling for Oline help...yes we needed a receiver and 2 was arguably ok in case one bombed....but a TE?...that was a luxury pick at the time and people here certainly questioned it.
We needed oline help then...no doubt among other needs...I like Fred Davis now...but...had we addressed the line then, we may not have needed to draft an Olineman early on...we could have drafted the top Free Safety as an example.

I am not talking hindsight 20/20....I am talking about a questionable pick when we had Cooley...the guy rides the pine most of the time...an high 2nd round olineman would have been playing at least 70% of snaps by now

Remember the BS cover crap?....oh yeah...were gunna run massive 2 TE sets....never happened...they were just covering up for Vinnie being married to the board and ignoring team deficiencies.

Or that he changes his mind about having the f'ing Pro Bowl before the SB.

You must not be a fan of any of the other major sports. They scheduled the DRAFT in direct competition with the mlb regular season, and the post season's of both hockey and basketball. This is hubris at its highest, and at some point its gonna come back around for the nfl.
Also i can't like Goodell until he changes the pro bowl back to the way it used to be. I liked the idea of it being a reward for the players and their families to go to hawaii, now its just another money grubbing strategy by the nfl.
