dream killer.
I'm just saying don't go around thinking he's going to be traded for a 2nd round pick tonight. Because it might not happen.

Shanahan on Haynesworth deal: 'It's not going to happen'
In an interview today with the NFL Network, Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan didn't leave himself any wiggle room about the prospects of defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth being traded.
"No, it's not going to happen....Albert Haynesworth will not be traded," Shanahan said.
Not sure if there are many ways to interpret that. AlthoughShanahan has publicly said similar things since his minicamp last week, reports, rumors and speculation persists, and
Tennessee, New Orleans, Minnesota and Detroit have all been linked in
trade talks.
The NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora reported this afternoon that Haynesworth would be moved today, likely to Tennessee in exchange for a third-round draft pick in tonight's draft. But Titans general manager Mike Reinfeldt used language just as strong as Shanahan's.
"It's a dead issue. It is not happening," Reinfeldt told reporters in Nashville, Tenn., according to The Tennessean. "From our perspective there is nothing [to the report] at all. I have not talked to the Redskins in a long time.''

and if it doesn't he should remain a redskin, i mean i don't like the guy at all i think he is a douche as some of you may know. but he is one of the top defesive players in the nfl and we f-ed up by bringing him here and giving him 32 mil in the first year thats ruhtarded 100 time over. but what would be even worse imo is just giving the guy to another team for a bag of peanuts. eveyone can say what they want about the guy but he is a force on the field and as i was proven wrong(rarely happens) he actually played over 75% of the d snaps this year which is the leauge average.
i'm sorry but we can't just give this guy away we need to make it work if we can't get a high to mid second for him then i say we keep him and see what happens next year. personally i would rather have him play a few games then get benched and ride the pine all year then to watch our franchise get bent over then knee and beaten yet again. and then watch him dominate on another team.

the skins prolly can't get what they consider "fair" value for him, so fat al will remain a redskin.

They need any pick they can get at this point. Our intradivisional opponents in Philly and especially Dallas are going to be definitely upgraded, while we are going to get stuck with signing scrub FAs yet again. Donovan isn't going to get us anywhere if the current roster isn't updated and upgraded. He had a better O line in Philly and a much better WR trio to work with as well, and still didn't get past Dallas.

Smoot, any chance you can get the people at the ESPN Insider department to stop posting this quote? If memory serves me correctly it's about two weeks old. Not to mention the information it's based on comes from February.

I could still see this happening
"For the record, I still think the Redskins would entertain offers for Haynesworth. I sat at a breakfast table with Mike Shanahan at the owners meeting and heard the tone in his voice when he discussed Haynesworth's decision to skip the offseason conditioning program. He feels like Haynesworth has already defied him in front of the team, and that's part of why he's already tried to trade him at least once."

Trading Al for a 3rd rd. pick...........would be stupid! I personally think La Canfora just keeps spewing this info becuz of bad sources. Schefter comes with info that is legit so I will definitely believe him over La Canfora.

i dissagree. fat al, like him or not, is too good of a player to trade away for crappy picks.

i dissagree. philly lost mcnabb to us. that = downgrade for philly, upgrade for us. dallas really hasn't done much.
Donovan isn't going to get us anywhere if the current roster isn't updated and upgraded. He had a better O line in Philly and a much better WR trio to work with as well, and still didn't get past Dallas.
i dissagree. philly may have had a better 0-line but not wrs.

No, we need to make wise value judgements, and realize it is a process, not a firesale. MS and BA will field a competitive team, not waste draft picks OR talent, and we will go from there.

I just finished watching Mike Shanahan along with Rich Eisen on NFL network and he stated emphatically, Albert Haynesworth will not be traded. He mentioned the rumors that have been circulating, but Albert will be a Redskin this season.
