Anyone else feel dissapointed with McNabb's press conference? Jeez it sounds like Jason Campbell has much more dedication/commitment to playing this season. Not that that covers up his lack of throwing abilities, but I really didn't feel the McNabb vibe today.

The guys been at one place his whole career and just got traded to a division rivial. Let him get use to being here and let him get his feet wet. Did you hear him say he was already working out that am and was going to start throwing to his new teammates today?

You know who's really got class, Donovan McNabb. I would be pissed if my team treated me like the eagles did him. And how he kept his composure without busting T.O right in his teeth on the sidelines in some of those games, shoot.........Intestinal Fortitude as well, dealing with those fuckin fans.

D.C. Sports Bog - McNabb causes Fletcher to talk Super Bowl (http://voices.washingtonpost.com/dcsportsbog/2010/04/mcnabb_causes_fletcher_to_talk.html)

"The excitement with our team began with the adding of Bruce Allen as the General Manager last year at the end of the season. Then it continued and got even higher when we added Mike Shanahan as the head football coach. So now we come in and they make all of the other moves they made in this offseason and then you trade for a Donovan McNabb, a six-time Pro Bowl quarterback, a guy who has taken his team to five NFC Championships and one Super Bowl appearance. You talk about excitemen. Before we were thinking, 'Ok, Let's compete for a division championship.' No. Now, we are thinking, 'Let's compete for a Super Bowl.' So just to let you know how things have changed around here."emphasis mine.

lol. i've bashed him here a ton but last year is over with. let's see if the guy has any pride and gets himself in the best shape of his career and plays like the potential beast that we know he can be.

Redskins Insider - Shanahan: McNabb 'probably can play as long as he wants to play' (http://voices.washingtonpost.com/redskinsinsider/donovan-mcnabb/shanahan-mcnabb-probably-can-p.html)

His age is a non factor to me. He can play at a high level for at least 3-4 more seasons barring a major injury. Plus you have to consider Shanahan isn't going to ask him to throw 35 times a game like Reid did. Shanahan will protect him with a running game and with smart play design such as roll-outs.

Agree with all of this.

There are PLENTY of QBs who changed teams even later in their careers, close to age 40 and had very productive seasons:

(off the top of my head)

Favre
Montana
Moon
Testaverde
Flutie
Tarkenton
Gannon
Kurt Warner

McNabb is young compared to these guys. Did you know he's 20th in wins by QBs all time, and he's only 33? With a 9-win season this year, he'll be tied for 10th all time.

As I've been looking over his numbers without the bias against Eagles over the past few days...the more I like having him here.

Kurt Warner didn't "come back" until he was 36.
