McNabb a REDSKIN!

The trade was made more because of how the Eagles feel about Kolb than how they feel about McNabb. They feel Kolb is ready to take over, plus DM is on the last year of his deal, might as well get something for him now rather than letting him walk next year.

I'll still go back and say if you have a franchise QB worth their weight in gold you don't trade them. You trade your second string QB for other players needed or draft picks. Instead it speaks volumes that they traded McNabb (a franchise QB) and are going to start a QB that has played 2 games. Either McNabb pissed off the team somehow (which I doubt happened) or the Eagles are going with youth (which worries me). The latter is what I'd like to see the Skins do but instead we picked up McNabb.

He's definitly a HOF for what he has done, but I just don't think the Eagles would give up a franchise QB if he was still a franchise QB or to a division rival.

Comparing these two is a joke, I mean really.

Donovan McNabb: Career Stats (http://www.nfl.com/players/donovanmcnabb/careerstats?id=MCN017517)

Jason Campbell: Career Stats (http://www.nfl.com/players/jasoncampbell/careerstats?id=CAM375235)

We shouldn't even be talking about these 2 in the same sentence. One guy is one of the top guys in the league, the other guy we can't even give away at this point.

Stats aside, anyone who tries to say that JC is in the same ballpark as McNabb is simply kidding themselves.
I won't argue career wise that JC is in the same ballpark, but in the upcoming 2010-2013 seasons, DM does not so upgrade our qb spot that we give up a very high 2nd and 4th next year for him. If this trade was in 2006, it would have been a steal. Now, it's just an old vet overpriced for a year or 3. Hopefully it goes like the Fletcher acquisition, but it reeks of Jason Taylor desperation.

Ok, so what you are saying, basically, is that since they let Brian Westbrook go, Byron no longer could give us inside information, therefore... we should give up 2 picks, 11mill without a guarantee past this year, so we have inside info on a team that we are one one season removed from sweeping with JC. Got it. I change my mind GREAT move. HAIL TO THE NEW BOSS, (same as the old boss?)

I didnt say anything about Westbrook. Who is BYRON?

We gave up a 2nd rounder and a possible 4th next year. Yes its worth it.

A contract will be worked out. We are not giving up a pick next year if there isnt a chance of signing a longer contract.

I really don't care about that. When the game is on the line JC can't put the team on his back and win a game 2 or 3. He just can't do it. I love the guy as a person, classy stand up guy but he just didn't make enough plays to help the team win. Shanahan and Allen have done thier homework on JC and I trust them. McNabb gives us what our offense has been missing, big play, home run type ability.

That about sums it up. They've obviously seen all they need to see, and there's no way Campbell stays here in any capacity.

The bummer about this whole deal is that we probably won't get squat for JC now. Then again, if we somehow got rid of him before this deal, then the Eagles might have been able to demand more for McNabb.

How many people who voted that they didn't want McNabb here in Washington are now voting that they approve of the trade. 57 to 25 not wanting him here and yet now 20 - 6 approve this trade. I don't get what changed from Friday's poll to this morning's other than the trade actually took place.

lol yeah it's odd to me too

Like you said, the only thing that changed is the trade actually happened. Perhaps people have had a chance to think about it and when reality sets in they realized it's a good move.

How you can go from JC to McNabb and not like it is beyond me.

How can you say this? I didn't see any drop off in his play last year. 14 games 22 td's and 10 ints. Year before he put the team on his back and almost got them to the SB. This guy can still get it done. Plus they're going to give him a running game, somthing he's NEVER had in Philly. Philly's loss our gain. This could really come back and bite Philly in the ass.

I hope and pray your correct. Everytime I try to point out a good move people throw stats in my face. All I'm pointing out is we have a QB with similar stats on the roster right now that everyone is trying to get rid of. I'd prefer we got younger. Lastly we back to the win now attitude.

I'll give you a point though. Shanahan did well with a 34 y/o Elway and went to the SB when people thought he was washed up. Again I hope and pray your right and Shanahan can work his magic with McNabb.

Byron is Brian's brother and a reserve db on our team. A running joke every year is that Byron was on the team to give us a shadow of the Eagles offense.

Well they drafted Kolb for a reason and they have a lot of faith in him. They weren't going to give McNabb another contract with a talented 25 year old sitting on the bench. It's a lot like the Packers situation when they traded away Favre in order to finally get Rodgers on the field. They felt it was time to move forward and I think the Eagles felt the same way here.

I responded to you earlier with this, but it got lost in the frenzy:

I suspect that many who were against McNabb at the outset have no choice but to accept what's happened because we're Redskins fans and Donovan McNabb is now a Redskin.

We have to deal with less picks in the draft than just about every team every single year. I'm sick of that, and it's not something I expected with Shanahan and Allen. Clearly, they aren't following the 'rebuild and suck it up for a year or two' rule. They are all in to win right now.

I don't like the draft situation, but I'm betting they'll do all they can to trade down and pick up more as they go along.

McNabb's career stats won't mean shit if THE SKINS don't go deep into the playoffs! To answer the the question, 'What have you done for me lately?', neither one of these QBs have done much for THE SKINS, therefore they are one of the same. McNabb is a future HOF... as a Eagle.
