skinsfan69 04-05-2010, 09:33 AM I'm not a fan favorite of JC or McNabb. I guess I'd take JC over McNabb only cause he's already a Skin.
But I'll say this... No different then other teams and fans saying that if JC was worth anything we'd be keeping him, If McNabb was worth anything the Eagles would be keeping him. I know players get traded for all sorts of reasons, but he's not dragging the team down character wise or breaking the law or using drugs. No team in their right mind would give up a franchise QB unless there is something wrong with him, he's lost his step, or he can't run the offense anymore. I'm telling you we are not getting the franchise QB everyone is hoping for.
In defense of the move Shanahan took on a Denver team with a 34 y/o Elway and went to the SB. McNabb is only 33. So maybe Shanahan can get more out of McNabb as he did with Elway and get the job done.
But I'll still hold out hope that there is a trade in the works behind the scene's so we can aquire a young QB for our future.
How can you say this? I didn't see any drop off in his play last year. 14 games 22 td's and 10 ints. Year before he put the team on his back and almost got them to the SB. This guy can still get it done. Plus they're going to give him a running game, somthing he's NEVER had in Philly. Philly's loss our gain. This could really come back and bite Philly in the ass.
Beemnseven 04-05-2010, 09:33 AM The reason I said that is, DM5 knows their tendecies on both sides of the ball. He knows their offense like the back of his hand and their snap counts. Which is going to be helpful for our D. He also knows how Andy gameplanes which is another plus.
People always think this, but it never works. Reid is no idiot. He'll change things up appropriately.
doughtydoubter 04-05-2010, 09:34 AM wow....i sat down after i head the news...read the 27 posts of comments when i got home, tried to let it sink in as i tossed and turned....
and i am still completely in shock.
Not in a bad way...we have for the first time in a long time a qb that is unequivocally the starter. Something that we have needed for a very very long time.
I love it.
For all you that wanted Jc to be the man - he was a classy guy, but being nice doesnt equate to tds
Gmanc711 04-05-2010, 09:36 AM I woke up this morning and didn't think this actually happened until I turned on MIke & Mike.....true story.
12thMan 04-05-2010, 09:37 AM I think when people look at McNabb's stats over the past few years, keep in mind that the Eagles had a very one dimensional, pass happy offense. Second, Andy Reid's play calling has left a lot to be desired recently.
It can't be stressed enough that Shanahan will implement a more balanced attack that will take some of the pressure off McNabb. He's going to be in entirely different situation here with the Redskins.
The comparisons are because people are wanting to use STATS. I'm not a stats person and I'll say McNabb is most likely better then JC, but the stats don't show it. If you start when McNabb came into the league then he will blow JC out of the water, but if you use last yrs stats or the last couple yrs stats cause that shows a better evaluation of what your getting now then JC's stats are comparable.
Plus JC had a horrible OL to play behind, a bad HC, a bad scheme, and not as good of WR's. The only consulation I can think of is Shanahan will have a better system, coached up WR's, hopefully a decent OL.
Comparing these two is a joke, I mean really.

Jason Campbell: Career Stats (http://www.nfl.com/players/jasoncampbell/careerstats?id=CAM375235)
We shouldn't even be talking about these 2 in the same sentence. One guy is one of the top guys in the league, the other guy we can't even give away at this point.
Stats aside, anyone who tries to say that JC is in the same ballpark as McNabb is simply kidding themselves.
SBXVII 04-05-2010, 09:39 AM CRedskinsRule,
I've heard that said, but Kyle is our OC and calling plays, did Houston run the same offense as his dad? I don't know, I am asking because I would say Houston didn't seem to be a WCO.
I think the Offenses should be similar. Kyle worked under Gruden in Tampa (WCO). He then moved to Houston where he worked under a HC that worked under Shanahan. I know we hear all the touting of Kyle Shanahan being the OC in Houston but the HC was already in place and ran an offense similar to what Shanahan was running. Kyle was WR coach, then QB coach, then OC. He had time to learn some of his fathers system and run it.
Kyle sounds like a coach who will take chances. Will want to pass the ball. Mike Shanahan was more of a HC that liked to run the ball. The good news is the blocking scheme was the same under Alex Gibbs for both coach's. So mixing both will not be to bad an issue as it was with our Joe Gibbs running mixed with Zorn's/Holmgrens passing attack.

I really don't care about that. When the game is on the line JC can't put the team on his back and win a game 2 or 3. He just can't do it. I love the guy as a person, classy stand up guy but he just didn't make enough plays to help the team win. Shanahan and Allen have done thier homework on JC and I trust them. McNabb gives us what our offense has been missing, big play, home run type ability.
CRedskinsRule 04-05-2010, 09:43 AM How many people who voted that they didn't want McNabb here in Washington are now voting that they approve of the trade. 57 to 25 not wanting him here and yet now 20 - 6 approve this trade. I don't get what changed from Friday's poll to this morning's other than the trade actually took place.
