NM Redskin 04-04-2010, 11:23 PM Well Shanny just made a big acquisition at QB, I think he'd would want the best LT in the draft to watch McNabb's blind side.
I agree, but what is the staffs grade of the lineman? The difference between the best tackle and the 3rd best might not be as great to them as opposed to us and the media.
Mechanix544 04-04-2010, 11:23 PM Think of all the QBs that have been rumored to be coming here via trade the past few years-Favre, Vick, Cutler, Hasselbeck-had to get rid of Vinny to finally make it happen!
sort of off-topic, but huge day in sports tomorrow-McNabb trade talk, MLB opening day, NCAA Championship game, Tiger speaks at Augusta
Ya, huge day tommorrow. Augusta national is about 300 yards away from my front door. Traffic sucks on Washington Blvd. I did rent out 3 parking spots in front of my house for 35 dollars a day, each, so, I just have to go the back way to fort gordon this week..........
I really hope we get some draft picks from somewhere, or that the situation presents itself to trade down for add'l picks.
We gotta get soething for Capbell now tho, we have to. I hope JC like cold weather..........(Buffalo BIlls?...........)
SmootSmack 04-04-2010, 11:24 PM This makes Shanahan less likely to win a super bowl, but it would make the returns on it more sweet than if he won it with Campbell!
Wait, no, sorry, they are similar players even in the amount a super bowl win would mean to their detractors. Although we could beat Philly in the NFC Championship.
I'll want to stick a fork in my eye for asking...but how so?
SBXVII 04-04-2010, 11:25 PM Rejoice? Nah, but not a terrible move either. We get a QB that has been pretty consistent when healthy (ha), for a 2nd rounder, who has experience in West Coast offense, who strips a chief rival of their all-time stat leader, and...lets just see if this fires up D-Mac..nothing like feeling WANTED. I mean, Philly has been trying to run him out for years...
Don't you mean the Rams after we make the trade?
Redpath 04-04-2010, 11:25 PM Wow... Had hoped to see a question mark rather than an exclamation in the post subject. It was awesome to catch this in time for Fox News' 'fan reaction' interviews. I believe the first comment was 'we have a great line, great receivers, and now a great quarterback.' Apparently they weren't a Washington fan. Clearly they were interviewing philly fans...
At any rate, things looked so promising as though Snyder really was stepping back. Now we get another has-been to come get some of that Snyder funded retirement cheese.
I hope like crazy they intend to build through the draft or surprise us with a high profile trade like this to address the real problem in the O line.
DM makes all the passes that we saw JC.......AW shit!
A.....shocker, no doubt....but another weak link repaired.
AND DM will be a bitch on Philly twice a year while he plays.......
Mechanix544 04-04-2010, 11:26 PM A.S. made a good point, Elway was over a year older when shanny started in denver in 95 than Donovan is now, plus in Denver, they didnt have the defense that we do. Address the line in this draft, and we will compete for the NFC East this year.
Slingin Sammy 33 04-04-2010, 11:26 PM There's got to be more here, I would think.Just got the news, your statement is what I keep thinking about.
There has been no contract discussion, so it's not outside the realm of possibility McNabb is traded on draft day. What do we know:
1) We're not "boxed in" on a starting LT or QB at #4.
2) The FO does not have enough faith in Campbell to go into the season with him as the starting option at QB.
3) We will likely be making more trades either right before or during the draft for picks in the 2-3 round range.
Let's say we stand pat, McNabb is a major upgrade over Campbell (if healthy) for the next two seasons. We will come away with one of the top 2 LTs or more picks in the first round, or both. What did we lose, our second rounder....who many here were saying to use on Colt McCoy. McNabb is light years ahead of what McCoy will ever be.
CRedskinsRule 04-04-2010, 11:26 PM McNabb
2009 267 443 3553 60.3 8.02 60 22 10 35 92.9
Campbell
2009 327 507 3618 64.5 7.14 84 20 15 43 86.4
and McNabb had....
Desean Jackson!
Not that I'm comparing McNabb with Elway, but maybe Shanny can help McNabb win a SB the way he helped Elway.
Adam Schefter just noted that Elway was one year older than McNabb is now when he first got to Denver and went on to win those two Super Bowls
