I rather draft a late round RB who could fill in on 3rd down and help in the return game. These three vets already have bruised egos. This won't be 'healthy' competition.

I'm not sure Parker can regain his speed after a certain point, and that's all he's got really. Diet, lose weight, start running alot. Incorperate P90x, and do a lot of short suttles/ sprints. It doesn't work out.... adios. tryfuhl 04-02-2010, 07:22 PM I rather draft a late round RB who could fill in on 3rd down and help in the return game. These three vets already have bruised egos. This won't be 'healthy' competition. maybe that's what Alridge can do.. we may still do that anyways though SBXVII 04-02-2010, 07:25 PM I rather draft a late round RB who could fill in on 3rd down and help in the return game. These three vets already have bruised egos. This won't be 'healthy' competition. We have Thomas, Buchanen, Hall, Moss, and Alridge. Did I forget anyone? 5 guys who can return kicks. Why do you want another RB who can do it? cdskins26 04-02-2010, 07:30 PM Honestly, I do see this happening. Good, bad, or indifferent, we need to fill ARE's spot and he won't cost a lot to pick up. Perhaps they feel they can wait until next yr to revamp the RB spot. Pick up the QB they want, get an OL, LB, and a FS. Then invite as many UFA OL and LB's to camp. I could too and you can imagine how much he would like playing 4 games against dallas or philly. I would rather us trade for marshall if we didnt have to give up too much. Either the 37th pick if we cant get gaither for it or something like cooley and rodgers for him. diehard 04-02-2010, 07:34 PM Thomas has shown promise in the return game. The others mentioned have yet to prove it for the Skins. A late round RB won't get a lot of reps behind veteran backs, so there's added value as returner. Trample the Elderly 04-02-2010, 07:37 PM So here's where we're at right now. We cut our old over paid RBs and picked up old under paid RBs. Not bad, not bad. An anti-Cerrato move. I'm not convinced that these guys are going to be on the roster anyway. We might keep two of the three, but I have a feeling that Shann-a-Allen will find a good RB under the radar in the back part of the draft, or bring in an UDFA. Either way, I'm very excited and enthusiastic about how our front office is working now. This was long overdue. Dirtbag59 04-02-2010, 07:47 PM So here's where we're at right now. I think Cerrato's strategy was also overpay a couple of big name free agents then find a bunch of guys to fill your roster with minimum contracts due to cap constraints. You may be right. Whatever his strategy was, I'm glad it's no longer employed in Ashburn. SBXVII 04-02-2010, 07:57 PM Thomas has shown promise in the return game. The others mentioned have yet to prove it for the Skins. A late round RB won't get a lot of reps behind veteran backs, so there's added value as returner. I think Thomas did admirably. Definitly better then ARE. Moss we know can do the job and has done it well. I thought Hall has done it before just not with the Skins. Buchanen has good hands and is fast so obviously he will need to be tried out. Then there is Alridge. If he can keep from fumbling he would be a good pick for he job. Now that we have a full stable of RB's I just don't see the need to go out this year and pick up a RB, WR, or CB in this yrs draft. Especially when he have drastic need of a more accurate QB. You guys talk of picking up a 2nd round QB, hell we can't get our late 1st round QB to become a franchise QB. We have Grossman who was a late 1st round QB. Some have mentioned picking up a mid round QB after picking up 2 OL. We have a mid round QB in Colt. We don't need one of those either. I'll even do you one better... we have an UFA in Bartel. The only thing we don't have is a top 5 drafted QB. I think I'd rather take a stab at that now. Especially since none of the others are franchise QB's. After QB we can pick up OL in round 2. Maybe we get to trade back then if someone see's something they like? If not OL. Jarmin is our 3rd pick. Pick a 3/4 LB in the 4th round. OL in the 5th. FS in the 7th. |
