TO will be the next guy we sign.
I hope you're right. T.O. or (God willing) Brandon Marshall. Kyle needs a stud WR.

Trample the Elderly 04-02-2010, 06:33 PM Let the competition begin! No one is just going to show up and be handed the job. Shanahan really does like competition. I like it. Hell yeah! Trample the Elderly 04-02-2010, 06:34 PM TO will be the next guy we sign. Please don't say that buddy. tryfuhl 04-02-2010, 06:35 PM I'm going against the grain on this one. I don't like the signing. I think LJ has a chance to maybe revitalize his career, but I don't think the same about Parker. Honestly, I don't think he was ever that good. I could be wrong and he blows up, but I doubt it. If this move keeps us from getting a young guy, I think it's a mistake. I could easily conjure up a vision where all three of these older semi-injury prone backs are hurt at the same time. I want a young RB in here taking a few reps from time to time. Like others, I think one of these players gets cut (or maybe we move Portis for a 5th round pick or something similar) to make room for a younger guy. stats-wise they're damn near identical, Johnson having one more year which is reflected in the stats.. really the only thing that stands out vs the two of them is TDs.. and Pittsburgh had Bettis for those situations for a couple of years.. their TDs over the past 4 years are 20 for Parker, 25 for Johnson.. neither had a rushing TD last year I think that it's a crapshoot between LJ and WP, not saying it won't be clear later on though SmootSmack 04-02-2010, 06:44 PM I think LJ's advantage is his size. He can be an old power back. I'm not sure Parker can regain his speed after a certain point, and that's all he's got really. SBXVII 04-02-2010, 07:03 PM (ring ring) Mr. Portis, this is your wake-up call LOL, Ring, Ring CP- (half asleep) hello? ?- CP? CP- yeah who's this? ?- your conciense. CP- Uh... do you know what time it is? Conciense- yeah, 3am. CP- you had to wake me up? here I was Dr. Doitchbig and was starting to examine one of the new Redskinetts and.... Conciense- do you know who Willie Parker is? CP- yeah he's that really good RB in Pitt. Conciense- not anymore. CP- what happened to him? he get killed? Conciense- no, he's now a Redskin. CP- ......... son of a bitch! cdskins26 04-02-2010, 07:08 PM I'll be interested to see what we do about RB in the draft...and who survives training camp. I was thinking we should trade the second pick for Gaither or pick Jahvid Best. After Spiller this year's draft lacks running back talent IMO. This will keep us stable for another year and we could in a perfect scenario draft a guy like Ingram. This should be good for Portis if he stays with the team as he will have plenty of motivation. SBXVII 04-02-2010, 07:12 PM TO will be the next guy we sign. Honestly, I do see this happening. Good, bad, or indifferent, we need to fill ARE's spot and he won't cost a lot to pick up. Perhaps they feel they can wait until next yr to revamp the RB spot. Pick up the QB they want, get an OL, LB, and a FS. Then invite as many UFA OL and LB's to camp. NYCskinfan82 04-02-2010, 07:14 PM I still say a healthy and conditioned Portis is the best out of the 3 but they've all got their work cut out for them. This is some real head to head competition right here. Agreed CP is still the best RB but competition is a beautiful thing, we only have 5 picks in this draft, we no longer have to focus on RB unless a steal falls in our lap. GREAT MOVE, bring on the draft bring on training camp. HTTR. tryfuhl 04-02-2010, 07:16 PM I think LJ's advantage is his size. He can be an old power back. I'm not sure Parker can regain his speed after a certain point, and that's all he's got really. Well yeah, I think that Parker is past his peak as well, speed was definitely a big part of his game. He was great to the outside, in the spread, etc. I think that Shanahan will take advantage of that. I mean he's not going to do to him what we did to Portis. LJ could definitely have a bigger impact since his runs might "mean more." |
