tryfuhl 04-03-2010, 07:36 PM I think I'd rather have one year of JC than a 3rd round pick in this draft. It's close though. I like holding the option of offering him an extension if he exceeds all of our expectations, but I think I'd be willing to pull the trigger if someone offered a second rounder for Campbell, and just go with Colt McCoy as a rookie at QB.
Yeah.. that 3rd could give us a good interior lineman, LB, or something.. then McCoy vs Grossman to start in camp, I guess giving Brennan or whoever else is here their due diligence as well
I guess that you do have the chance that we extend Campbell, but how long will it take for Shanahan to find himself a new young QB? If we get a QB in the first couple of rounds and another team doesn't get who they wanted then maybe we can pull a 3rd.

As I think has already been mentioned above, I think that an early 3rd rounder could give us a starting guard in this draft. If nothing else, we might be able to reach out and grab Best or matthews, whoever drops farther. Not a bad prospect IMHO, especially with the way Colt looked at his pro day.
Who knows what this FO will do. Alot of the moves thus far have been so completely out of right field, I wouldnt be surprised if we get TO and he tries to get Terry Bradshaw to be our backup QB or sumthin. Totally unexpected and close to the chest.
Lotus 04-03-2010, 09:47 PM all i'm saying is if a team thinks JC is the immediate answer then i think they may give a 3rd for him.
Especially if the draft is in the 3rd and, for whatever reason, a team still does not have a guy for next year. JC's value may rise during the draft.
jdc65 04-03-2010, 09:59 PM I would definately take a 3rd rd pick for Campbell. It seems obvious to me that he is not in their long-term plans, and that 3rd rd selection should net us a quality starter. Players like Ben Tate-Hardesty at RB, Misi-Butler for LB, Ducasse-Asamoah-Jerry for OL, Thomas-Troup for NT. Definately should get a key starter to plug a hole.
It is very difficult to read this new regime, they are making quite a few head-scratching moves, and so who knows what to expect come draft day. I feel that we can expect at least 1 trade, and probably 2 or 3.

I agree. Someone will be very uncomfortable with their current roster, or, not that I wish it or anything, but someone always gets hurt in T.C or the preseason.
His stock is steadily rising the closer we get to opening day, IMO. I think if we wanted, we could definitely get a 3rd rounder for him, soon. Getting a second is a little shaky, we might need to package up our 4th rounder with him for that to happen.
WaldSkins 04-03-2010, 10:22 PM How about our #4 pick for baltimore's 1st and Gaither?
Mechanix544 04-03-2010, 10:27 PM maybe our #4, and our 4th rounder for their 1st rounder and Gaither......... would that work?

Baltimore probably doesn't want that contract.
Mechanix544 04-03-2010, 10:55 PM ya, but think if Suh or mcCoy drops to 4. They could be salivating over adding one of those names to that Defense of theirs. Anything could happen i guess.........

I don't know how you pass up on Suh at 4. I will break a TV if they pick Jimmy Clausen and Suh is on the board.
