Twitlonger: RT @Rich_Campbell: RT @Adam_Schefter: CB Phil Buchanon signed a one-year deal with the Redskins for (http://www.twitlonger.com/show/lsobi)
Pretty cheap, maybe he can play free safety and let Landry go back to Strong Safety where he belongs.

Lol, BuShannon as my friend used to say. Either way I'll be the first to say that this move makes us a championship contender.

I like it. He's the best player of all of our pickups so far, and gives us some flexibility in our secondary.
I imagine he will come off the bench for us, but I'd be comfortable with him starting. I gave him the same player 'grade' (82) that I gave Hall in free agency last year, and they are similar players. Buchanon is significantly older though.
Good move for depth, I'd take him over Smoot that's for sure

he's only 30 though, wich is still pretty young. i don't know how i'd feel about moving him to free safety, though. i certainly feel like we have very good depth at CB now and i wouldnt be surprised if carlos rogers is part of some sort of draft day trade.

Good move, was kinda hoping to see more of Barnes in the nickle. But this is a nice upgrade over Smoot fo sho.

as others have said, does anyone know if he can play FS? i would assume we brought him on for his return skills and to add some depth at CB if nothing else.

Solid pickup. Tryon and Barnes will have to show their worth this summer (I'm not even counting Byron Westbrook because that guy seems to make the team regardless every year).
Tryon and Barnes (along with guys like Rinehart, Mitchell) have to realize that they are projects from the last regime and Shanahan and Allen have no loyalty to them

if anyone moves to free safety, i'd think it should be rogers, but thats just my opinion.
the thing I don't like about this move (assuming Rogers stays), is that it pushes Tryon and Barnes further down on the depth chart. Tryon had essentially passed Smoot on the depth chart by the end of last year and i thought he was doing a pretty good job. On the plus side, Shanahan beleives in competition and signing buchanan opens up some nice battles. everyone will have to work harder to secure their spot.
