Glad Skins didn't sign this fool. This is not the type of attention this team needs.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP)—Authorities say NFL linebacker Joey Porter(notes) has been arrested in Bakersfield on suspicion of drunken driving and accused of assaulting an officer and resisting arrest.

The California Highway Patrol says the 33-year-old player was confronted by officers early Saturday in a fast-food parking lot.

Porter refused to provide his driver’s license and began to roll up his window when asked to leave the car. Police say that when an officer reached to unlock the door Porter slapped the officer’s hand.

Porter eventually got out and complied with orders, placing his hands behind his back. He and a passenger were arrested.

The 11-year veteran recently signed with the Arizona Cardinals. He also has played for Pittsburgh and Miami.

This just reinforces the fact our FO is on the job. So glad we won't have that problem child to deal wth.

I have never liked Porter and I was actually kind of happy when he signed with Arizona instead of us. As F'd up as it may be, I couldn't help but laugh when I heard this.

Sure I'm glad we didn't pay Porter, but the situation there seems a little strange. I'll be curious to hear if he really was drunk.

I don't like Porter. Never have. But to open up another can of worms, in general I don't like police either. Most experiences I've had with them, they're a bunch of power-tripping bullies. One of the cops reached into Porter's car through the window to unlock the door, Porter "slaps" his hand, and gets charged with assault? LOL.

That's assault? I'll tell you what's assault: On Friday after work I went out to a bar in Bethesda for a few beers with a co-worker. When we were leaving the bar, the cops were talking to some guy who was in the passenger seat of a cab that was stopped right in front of the place. I couldn't hear what the guy said, but the cops (two of them, both pretty big guys) opened the door and yoked this dude out the car, and when he slid out of the seat, the first thing that hit the pavement was his forehead. He wasn't resisting, wasn't fighting back, nothing. Then one of the cops dropped a knee on the guys back to pin him down while he handcuffed him. All the while the guy was like "what the hell did I do? At least tell me what I did!" The cops didn't answer him, but they were both laughing out loud. I was disgusted. It was so excessive. So I said out loud, "hey buddy, if you want a witness on your behalf, I'm your man." The bigger of the two cops came over and got about two inches from my face and asked me if I wanted to be next. I didn't budge or say a word, I just stared at the guy, nose to nose. He then smirked, looked me up and down, called me a "punk ass," and then went and threw the other guy into the back of his cruiser. Eff that.

I know there are plenty of good men and women in law enforcement in this country. However the incident I saw the other night is not even close to the first time I've seen that kind of meat head BS from police. IMO, cops are generally rude bullies. I'll even call out my own family on this one. My cousin is a sherriff in Virginia and he's a total jerk.
