Meanwhile Kolb is unknow. Why trade a top QB in his prime for an unknown. Not smart IMO. It is a Brett Favre/Aaron Rodgers thing. You make such a move when you have confidence in the young QB and you can't keep the young QB on the bench forever, meaning you have to move on to the new generation. Plus the Eagles are loaded at QB. skinsfanthru&thru 03-25-2010, 12:08 AM And as to the rumor from the OP.....this story has legs. The Philly Inquirer is confirming a deal is on the table. I am unable to post the link, due to my low post count. But I will cut and paste a few sentences here. And maybe someone else can post the link: ORLANDO -- Donovan McNabb could be in a Rams uniform by the end of the day, possibly by the end of the week. The Eagles have an offer on the table that would give them St. Louis' second-round draft pick (33d overall) and free safety Oshiomogho Atogwe in exchange for McNabb. That deal, however, is "not yet completed," according to a league source. McNabb would be willing to go to the Rams if he was given a contract extension, according to a source close to the situation. He would not be willing to play for Buffalo or Oakland, two moribund franchises that might be willing to take McNabb without an extension. Atogwe is a RFA who still hasn't signed a deal so I don't see how that deal could happen unless he signed a contract with the Rams right before the trade. Dirtbag59 03-25-2010, 12:13 AM Rule #1 of off-season talk: Be skeptical of all quotes from NFL execs and coaches (and even players) WOW!!!! THAT's A LOW PRICE!!! The Goat 03-25-2010, 12:16 AM JC will garner us a 3rd rounder at best, but the point is probably moot. You don't want to put the rook QB behind an untested line and get killed, you will want JC to get killed!!!! Just kidding, but JC is the starter til the kid gets worked up, like Gibbs did with Brunell, then JC got put in at the end of Brunell's last season. You are right about the bottom line. CultBrennan59 03-25-2010, 12:57 AM Some one on here said that we'd be lucky to get a third rounder for Campbell, well that would have been true before Charlie Whitehurst got traded to seattle, but after that ridiculous trade for a guy whose never thrown a NFL pass, Jason is probably worth a second rounder now. And if this Mcnabb trade goes through, then expect us to get Bradford and expect Jason to be traded on the same day. And if this Mcnabb trade goes through, then expect us to get Bradford and expect Jason to be traded on the same day. Seahawks got off easy, in fact we I think of the maneuvering the Seahawks went with to get him I'm reminded of the Staples guy. Campbell is only worthy to carry the helmet of Whitehurst. You guys will rue the day Whitehurst was traded to the NFC. Come my children and join the Knights of Whitehurst. Perfect Post for #5,000. Man who would have thought I would have ever lasted after my Andre Carter thread back in 2006. SBXVII 03-25-2010, 01:02 AM Correct me if I'm wrong, but I could have sworn there was a topic on how none of the most recent playoff/SB teams didn't have a top 1st round LT. and perhaps the same could be said of QB's but it amazes me how much people are playing on the fact that "we have to have a top 1st round LT." Especially with several considerations... 1- Shanahan gets equivilant level of play out of mid to late round OL talent. 2- The proto typical zone blocking LT's coming out of the draft are not seen as worthy of a 1st or 2nd round pick. 3- Originally I had heard Okung was not fit for a team utilizing zone blocking. Supposedly he had bad lateral movement and was more built for man-to-man blocking. Most recently some of these reports have softened. Then theres the lets trade back for more picks theory... 1- Someone has to want to trade (unless as someone put it to me...we simply force another team to take the deal.:) ). 2- We are willing to except taking a player who's figured to go mid to late round zone blocker late in the first round. 3- Possibly willing to take lesser talent QB like JC and hope he can be developed possibly within a year if JC decides to leave. doughtydoubter 03-25-2010, 01:05 AM If this rumor is true, it certainly takes the luster, the sheen, and the brightness off of our Grossman signing! wha? your trying to tell me that my sexy rexy jersey wont be picked up for thousands on ebay in a decade?? tryfuhl 03-25-2010, 01:08 AM Why would Philly trade one of the top QB's in the NFL with a proven track record for a high 2nd round pick? It just doesn't make sense. How much longer will he be there? How long can they keep Kolb happy not starting? Sometimes you move on. |
