A guy that can get you 60+ catches and 1000+ yards year in and year out.
So we don't have one then . . .

MTK 03-19-2010, 12:39 PM I'm eager too. But chances are we're not looking at guys we can count on week in and week out. Thomas seems to have more upside. And Kelly played against San Diego's freakin' back ups. lol. Didn't he have that 80 yard catch early in the game when they had their starters in? It's year 3 for both guys so it's the ol "make or break" time. I have confidence Shanahan will get more out of them than Zorn did. celts32 03-19-2010, 01:07 PM I heard this same question asked to Pat Kirwin on NFL Radio about a month ago and he basically said the term "#1 WR" refers to a WR that dictates coverage. mlmdub130 03-20-2010, 12:04 AM Please Define A "True Number One" Receiver someone the redskins do not currently have :) Paintrain 03-20-2010, 01:48 AM A guy who can get you 60 catches and 1,000 yards year in and year out. So we don't have one then . . . How about a guy who averaged 70 catches and 1,005 yards over the past 5 years? Allow me to introduce you to Santana Moss: Career Stats (http://www.nfl.com/players/santanamoss/careerstats?id=MOS717844) Jaws said it best last year, the offense doesn't determine a team's #1 receiver..the opposing defensive coordinator does. SirClintonPortis 03-20-2010, 03:02 AM I think having a questionable coach in Hixon may have slowed the development of the WRs here, and is partly responsible for Moss's "lapses", i.e giving up on the route in the Seattle playoff game, which in turn led to a TC pick. Now with McCardell here, we could have two beasts in the making. Thomas could be even better than Brandon Marshall--Marhshall's 40-time is only 4.57--and Kelly could be right on par with him, or marginally better because he's likely a better route runner than Marshall. SBprimetime 03-20-2010, 01:20 PM I don't know about that. Marshall's hands are on a different level than Thomas's. jamf 03-20-2010, 02:44 PM Now with McCardell here, we could have two beasts in the making. That Jerry Rice guy ran a 4.7, Thomas and Kelly will be better than him! They are bigger and stonger too! Brandon Marshall is a 100 reception per year guy. He is unstoppable and an elite WR. Thomas and Kelly are on par with Penny Marshall not Brandon Marshall. SirClintonPortis 03-20-2010, 02:50 PM That Jerry Rice guy ran a 4.7, Thomas and Kelly will be better than him! That post was not about them being better. But of course, message board posters don't read sentences, they just look at the nouns in the sentences and then make their own sentences in their heads. And actually, I read one report in which Shanahan was going get rid of Marshall in one way or the other during the 2008 offseason, but he got fired. Sources: Former Denver Broncos coach Mike Shanahan planned to jettison Brandon Marshall - ESPN (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4469786) So for all the boneheads who keep on wanting him, the coach who drafted him didn't want him anymore. jamf 03-20-2010, 04:44 PM That post was not about them being better. Devin, Don't worry about Marshall. You're not even as good as Eddie Royal or Brandon Stokley. Maybe we could bring in Freddy Mitchell so you can compete with someone on your level... I'm more of an HBO guy... http://thefabempire.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/dt.jpg |
