So true I liked how the TE was like I am coming for you (if he ends up another team).
We were doing here in the office as joke, role-playing, we thought the funniest thing is they always cut the guy before he even gets to sit down. Shit if you cut me before I sit down, I am not sitting I am like see ya.
Yeah it is funny, why even bother sitting down.
That was the FB actually, Jason Davis. Yeah I liked his attitude too.

Yeah I meant FB, funny thing is they end up cutting T. Richardson then re-signing him; strange.
Tony Richardson shocked to learn he was cut by Jets; Kyle Wilson pulls all-nighter for Boise game (http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/jets/2010/09/08/2010-09-08_tony_richardson_shocked_to_learn_he_was_cut_by_ jets_kyle_wilson_pulls_allnighter.html?r=sports)
Mc2guy 09-09-2010, 03:28 PM In Tannenbaum's defense, it's "Firing People 101" to get it over with first, then talk about it. The last thing you want to do is to talk about performance first, beat around the bush, then get to the conclusion last. The guy knows why he's there, so there is no sense in letting it fester and possibly turn into an argument.
Unfortunately in my job I have had to let a few people go, and it is extremely difficult to do for the manager. I would say, the actual process of firing someone is MORE difficult for the person doing the firing than the person getting fired. Now, after-the-fact of course its worse for the person who lost their job, but the actual event is very nerve wracking...you never know how people are going to react to such news. Some are professional, some aren't, and you just don't know until it happens what you're going to get.
Tannenbaum seems uncomfortable with it, but how could he not be? It's not fun for him. I do think he could be a bit more honest with the critical feedback. As ball players, these guys need to know what they have to improve to make it in the NFL, and he didn't seem to provide much of that.
On a personal level I felt really bad for Brashton Satelle...seemed that he had a spot until he got hurt. That has got to feel awful, knowing that one wrong step and one turned ankle cost you a chance to play for an NFL squad.
mredskins 09-09-2010, 03:33 PM ^ I hear you but I think Tannebaum and most NFL execs think of them as cattle.

Yeah, I can see that...notice that Tannebaum only talked to the guys he deemed "worthy" of his personal time. The lesser dudes got cut by the assistant GM.

Not for long? He's got 16 years out of the NFL. Plus that guy Connor is just blasting people. Every week he pancakes someone.

And this is why NFL GM's should not be firing guys. It's the head coach and the position coaches that should do it.
GMScud 09-09-2010, 04:08 PM Good episode last night. I wish they would have given a little more detail regarding what made the Revis deal turn around suddenly, because they made it look like it was a dead deal when Ryan stormed out of the room all ticked off.
Rex Ryan is such a jumbo douchebag. All that mouth, all that talk. WTF did the Jets do? Barely win 9 games and eek into the playoffs because the Colts started 2nd stringers in the last game? For as much hype as that blowhard has brought onto his own team, coupled with the NY media, man oh man if they fail it's gonna be epic. I wish them nothing but the worst. I can't remember the last time I've disliked a coach this much.
As I've said before I actually like Ryan after seeing this show. I thought he was a big jerk before, but after seeing some different sides of him I like him now. He's still a jerk, but I kinda like that.

See, that is exactly why I like him. He's brash, loud, cocky, and foul-mouthed. In short, he's a character, and the league needs more guys like him. The NFL has gotten so corporate, and so sterile with the likes of Bill Belichek and the Payton Manning's of the world, that I think it adds a spice to the league.
