I do like the idea of a 230lb banger wearing down defenses late in the game. :)

Does Big Ben fit that role?

Agreed, Pocket. So true.

LT leaves Minni and NY with no deal. Interesting.

Hate this move. Running backs should be young and cheap. LJ could barely gain a yard with KC last year, but as soon as he left the YOUNG AND CHEAP Jamaal Charles went on a tear, including a 259 yard game at the end of the season. He was the 73rd pick in the '08 draft.

RBs are a dime a dozen. Get them young and cheap and avoid 30 year old locker room cancers.

According to some people there are young budding future All-pro runningbacks falling off trees who are just waiting to be signed...

I would be happy with us using one pick in the backfield. A lot of people are calling for Blount but I am not convinced that he makes it to our 4th pick. We aren't the only people who know about his 2008 stats (which were off the charts).

Does anyone think that Dexter McCluster is worth our second round pick? He is sick... He is just as dangerous catching the ball too.

I'm not sure McCluster is worth a high second round pick. I think there are better options. Maybe if we get a late second round pick

Who cares if there are all-pro RBs falling off trees? Having a pro-bowl Running Backs is irrelevant when it comes to winning Super Bowls. Just look at the teams to play in the last 10 Super Bowls.

have you heard any rumblings about draft trades? i know there is about a 5% chance of us getting rid of the number 4 pick but it would be nice to bounce back in the second and get into the third.

Well we did have two young...and cheap running backs: Quinton Ganther and Marcus Mason. They simply weren't that impressive. I'd rather they be young, cheap, and good. And we released two 30 year old backs in exchange for a much better option at the same position, Larry Johnson.

Now if you just flat out don't like LJ for whatever reason(s), that's okay too. But I think the price was right and you get a proven running back that doesn't have as much mileage as some pretend.

Bottom line, singing Larry Johnson shouldn't be viewed as neither a long term commitment or a long term solution at running back. I trust the front office on this one.

I keep hearing people saying something along the lines of waiting a year until "a young RB takes over". I believe this league is moving away from the one RB system, and going towards a multiple RB running game. While I do hope we can find a good back in the later rounds (I just noticed that Sproles, Michael Turner, and Tashard Choice were all either 4th or 5th rounders), I think we are always going to have a combination of older and younger backs to share the load of the running game.

I have no problem with the Skins signing Johnson if he can return to form from a few years ago... we'll have to wait and see. The problem I do have is that they still have no RB with speed. CP has certainly slowed down and doesn't hit the holes quick enough anymore... he makes it easy on the opposing defense to move in for the tackle before he even gets past the line of scrimmage. I'd like to see some RB with good speed to complement Johnson's power running.
