"disappointed"....i dont like that words.

Sounds like something old lovable Coach Joe would say, or something Zorn would say:

"Well Golly Gee Willagers, i'm so dissappointed at how our workouts turned out". Sorry that was my best Zorn impression.

I want to hear Shanahan say that anyone who doesn't workout will be cut.

You obviously do not know Mike Shanahan. He doesn't take any crap.

He HAS sent players packing for not seeing things his way.

The old saying the Skins front office of old didnt understand is that its better to get rid of a player a year early rather than a year too late. The Skins have already held on to CP 2 years too long. I hope the new FO will follow that sage advice.

so you wanted to get rid of CP when he was 27-28, but Philly kept BW till he was 30, with concussions and all. Got it, no bias, no preconceived Skins hate. CP rushed for 1400 yds last year, don't think that was keeping him to long. This past year VC/Zorn were ineffective EVERYONE knows that. Shanahan is giving him the benefit of doubt and letting him prove himself.

He was highly effective in 2008, particularly in power running, but even during that year, he never really created anything as much as he simply took the corner when Samuels, Cooley, Kendall, and Sellers (all of which had great run blocking years) got it for him.

I think the timing of his effective year was just unfortunate, perfectly placed between two years where he was useless to us as a runner. If he had produced consecutive seasons with no big runs, he probably wouldn't have made it this far. But because of the small hope that he'll rebound this year, it seems we're kind of stuck with him, for at least one more year.

Someone said it best when they said, "Portis is a Ferrari that has been used as a pickup truck". Shannahan will know how to use CP to the best of his ability for one more year, until his replacement can be found. Toby would be a great change of back. CP should be taking it to the corners and not straight up the gut. You need a big dude for that. All of the RBs we had were the exact same thing.

CP's getting up there carries-wise. That's why any rational person would worry about him tanking. Once RBs go over 2300 carries, it's just almost guaranteed they're done. LT couldn't escape it, Fred Taylor couldn't escape it, and Portis is going to follow them. His speed is already no longer elite. He's got bone spurs, etc.

I'll predict it right now: CP will not break Riggo's record this year, and it will be his final year as a redskin.

i'd love it if we could find a speedster in the 4th and use portis mainly in obvious passing situations.

If we did that don't you think teams would pick up on it.

That's about when I would have dumped him. Like I said the smart people get rid of players 1 year early instead of 1 year late. Sure CP got 1400 yds that year but last year he didnt do anything (btw, both years were under Zorn & VC so thats a moot point) and now he's not only injury prone he's concussion prone. Better to have let another team give him the benefit of the doubt and let them pay if he succeeds or fails. With all the RBs out there its stupid to even be worring about giving an overage overpaid bad attitude RB the benefit of the doubt. Its just not worth it.
