Cleveland's had a pretty good offseason so far. The Brodney Pool non-tender was bizarre, but not necessarily hurtful. The Ben Watson signing was strong. The Derek Anderson release was good, if kinda obvious. Pashos was a nice short-term pickup.
I can completely understand the notion that ultimately, Brady Quinn's value doesn't skyrocket in the west coast offense the way that say, Seneca Wallace's does. A 6th round pick seemed high, but whatever. Delhomme is just a bizarre target. He's Anderson, but 8 years older. And he suffers from the same accuracy problems that have slowed Quinn. Except in Delhomme's case, he's been around long enough so that we know that it's not a fluke.
The Browns were never going to take a QB at no. 7, but it's hard to see Wallace/Delhomme as a marked improvement over Anderson/Quinn. There's no prospects here. They'll just have to turn to whatever developmental QB they take earlier than planned.

Much higher of course, I'd imagine. It's not an excuse because everyone has to deal with off the field issues but Snead had serious personal issues this past season which I believe affected his performance on the field.
Yeah, from an intangible standpoint his record is sketchy. At Texas he couldn't beat out Colt McCoy (understandable considering how Colt turned out), but most recently at Ole Miss he decided to leave because his starting job was in trouble. I'd be interested in seeing what a coach like Shanahan thinks considering the theme for camp this year seems to be competition. Actually I'm kind of surprised that at this point the Redskins don't like Clausen. I figured that Shanahan would see a little of him in Clausen.

Maybe Shanahan does like Clausen?

That seems to me like the $64,000 question: what does Shanny think of Clausen?

i agree, and to follow on that, does shanny like clausen enough to take him at 4, assuming that bradford is taken earlier.

I can't see the Browns releasing Derek Anderson, bring in Jake Delhomme, who probably has a couple of solid years in him, Seneca Wallace, who is nobody's starting quarterback, and not bring back Brady Quinn.
While I think Quinn's trade value has dropped, I would have to believe within the Browns organization his stock remains relatively high. I just don't see how they don't bring Quinn back to camp and compete with two warmed over quarterbacks.

Yeah I don't think his stock with Cleveland is high at all

Have you heard something on this?

I haven't heard of any interest in Clausen at all, but that doesn't mean they aren't just keeping it closely guarded

Maybe I have been naive on this but I don't have a good feeling for Pineapple Je5us staying with us. It seems that a lot of QBs who have proven a lot more are available. And if you add that with the whole crop from college that is coming in, he may be in trouble.
He better have a perfect offseason.
