I love this move. Low risk...high reward. if they waited until he was healthy and ready to go then there are a bunch of teams bidding on him.

Longtimefan 03-10-2010, 03:24 PM Guys come back from Achille's injuries all the time now, it's not the career killer it used to be. Example, Jon Jansen was back in a year with no lingering affects. Apparently there already were a lot of teams already interested Pocket$ $traight 03-10-2010, 03:30 PM This is an EXCELLENT signing for multiple reasons: First of all, we need a true nose tackle. This guy is a house and when he was healthy, he was a force up the middle. Second, his value couldn't be lower. He can't run so most teams are scared and we swooped in. Third, it is a low risk contract. There is little guaranteed money so if he doesn't get healthy no harm is done. This is the type of move that Vinny never would have made. Vinny would have overpaid to get Williams in here. BigHairedAristocrat 03-10-2010, 03:31 PM If he recovers and returns to form, i'm sure he'll be getting a healthy extension in the future. Nevertheless, i still think (if we go OT with our 1st round pick), we should consider drafting a NT with our 2nd. skinsfan69 03-10-2010, 03:35 PM didn't this guy start out on balt??? real good low risk move and a big body to put in the d-line rotation. but if carolina is letting him walk then he must not be right. Pocket$ $traight 03-10-2010, 03:35 PM Guys come back from Achille's injuries all the time now, it's not the career killer it used to be. I ruptured my achilles on Thanksgiving day and was playing softball the following March. The only thing that I am worried about with this deal is why isn't he running by now? Either way, I am confident that James Andrews can fix whatever the problem is. skinsfan69 03-10-2010, 03:36 PM This is an EXCELLENT signing for multiple reasons: First of all, we need a true nose tackle. My guess is he had a large roster bonus coming and a big contract, so they released him. Pocket$ $traight 03-10-2010, 03:39 PM Since I didn't know much about Achilles injuries, I looked it up. Seems like a pretty nasty injury based on this report. However, surgery gets better all the time.... I trust our new front office, and his contract is all incentive laden. Still a great signing. Jansen and Buzbee returned from it. Buzbee insn't in the NFL but he is playing in the CFL. |
