^^ Well said. 10 years from now, if Snyder still owns the Skins, his critics will still be referring to Smith, Sanders and George. Let it go people!!!

Let it go people!!! i'm just happy that if/when we win a superbowl under shanahan, they won't be able to say that Snyder bought a championship. If we have any measure of success with Shanahan and Allen running the show (atleast one season with more than 10 wins), then i dont think Snyder will ever return to his old ways. GMScud 03-10-2010, 02:24 PM I agree that it wasn't really necessary to spend mega-bucks this year. I could have lived with a Dansby signing, but I wanted no part of the other guys. At this point I'd say our patience and restraint is smart, but I said from day 1 of Shanahan/Allen that I'm taking a wait and see approach. Beneil (diehard since 87) 03-10-2010, 02:51 PM I agree with FRPLG. If you go back 10 years on ANY team you'll see some fruitless free agency signings. You can't compare Dion's crappy performance to Bruce Smith's steady production. Did Bruce get 8 sacks a game? no, but the dude got plenty of sacks those seasons, his first season he got ten. The main thing that got me was the way he talked about Haynesworth. We got more sacks this year than we've gotten since the FIRST time Gibbs was coaching. To say he didn't play a part is to say that you didn't understand the part he played. Look at the difference between with or without him. THe first Cowboys game our defense was solid until the final cowboy drive. The LAST time we played, they just ran it right up the middle as if to say "Your line ain't JACK without Haynesworth!" So WHAT if he missed a few games. HE WAS INJURED!?!! It happens. WHen he CAN play injured, he DOES play injured. The man is a beast and looks out for his fellow Redskins. Anyone against him doesn't know football. Longtimefan 03-10-2010, 03:10 PM I never anticipated much action in FA for several reasons. First, there's not a lot to choose from, and what there is, we weren't going to overpay for. Second, I want to believe the FO's approach is here to stay, excessive spending for FA's, trading away DP's and sacraficing DP's for RFA's is a pattern no longer on the radar. Having only five DP's this upcoming draft is why I'd like to see a trade down if could find a willing partner, gain additional picks while still being able to fulfill our basic needs. I do not however consider a QB being a basic need, at least not in this draft. Dirtbag59 03-10-2010, 03:10 PM Even when they praise us I hate this type of article. I am sick and f'ing tired of hearing about Smith/George/Sanders. It was F***ING 10 years ago!!!!! And calling Haynesworth a disappointment shows a complete lack of any real knowledge. He was not. We had a rookie DE/LB and the opposite DE combine for 22 sacks. You can thank AH for half of those. Yes our new approach is better. Yes our old old approach wasn't very good. The intervening approach was solid yet unproductive. No one ever talks about the year Gibbs came back and signed guys who actually worked out. They conveniently forget the signings of Griffin and Washington. I buy that going strictly the FA doesn't work a lot. I don't buy that it has been as bad as it gets portrayed like 31 other teams had the right idea and Danny-boy didn't. Not getting Dansby was very disappointing, but it doesn't sound like he was ever really interested in playing anywhere other than Miami, so I don't think we really dropped the ball there. Not signing Clifton when we had the chance was our biggest potential mistake in this offseason though. However, all will be forgiven in my book if we draft a LT with a first. I honestly feel fine with not signing Clifton. I really want to stay way from having a patch work done at the LT position. I really want the team to pick up Okung so he can anchor our line for the next 10+ years. I do want them to pick up a 3-4 LB though, which is why Dansby was my number 1 choice. However, I could live with Foote. BigHairedAristocrat 03-10-2010, 04:18 PM I honestly feel fine with not signing Clifton. I really want to stay way from having a patch work done at the LT position. I agree, Clifton wouldnt have been a long-term solution, but it would have opened up our options in the draft. If Okung's gone, i fear we'll end up reaching for someone. However, if Okung's there, it'll be very hard for the FO to justify drafting anyone else, given that we don't have a capeable starter on the team right now. CRedskinsRule 03-10-2010, 04:23 PM Another big difference this year is the FO's ability to misdirect from what our intentions are. If the media, and their sources had been believed(I did on some) we would have had Dansby, Peppers, and weren't giving the new DT a contract this time around. It certainly seems like BA learned from his Dad about keeping his true intentions close to his vest. |
