GusFrerotte 03-08-2010, 11:17 PM If we take a WR it has to be like the last pick for sure, or if we do trade down or make a JC trade for more pics, etc. We need linemen, a QB, and a S or LB if there is a diamond LB that for some reason wasn't taken earlier that we can't pass up.
CultBrennan59 03-08-2010, 11:32 PM How about Brandon James the PR/KR/RB from Florida who is basically the next Darren Sproles, he's blazing fast, quick, and short but has good weight for his size. He's projected to not even get drafted.

tryfuhl 03-08-2010, 11:33 PM I'm holding out promise that our 2 young WRs have solid years, they've certainly given indications that they can perform, they may not end up to be Jerry Rices or even Gary Clarks, but they're guys that you can win with. Not to mention Cooley and Davis. Put Moss in the slot and BAM, there you go. We don't need 5 pro bowlers at WR.

Maybe this has been talked about before but why don't they just use Davis as a wide receiver. He has wide receiver speed. He is faster than Kelly. How could he be stopped on a slant route?
One thing about Shanahan, when he has a weapon, he knows how to maximize it.
I have a feeling that we are going to be dumbfounded by how more effective Shanny's offense is going to be.
Trample the Elderly 03-09-2010, 12:06 AM FS is not really a gaping hole. Kareem Moore is adequate. He's not elite, but he won't bungle it like Landry has, well, except for that Mecheam touchdown....
I don't agree with you. Here's why:
1) Doughty, Landry, Horton are basically the same player, SS. Out of the three, I'd keep Doughty and Horton because their both better than, "got the brakes beat out of my his ass on MNF" Landry. Doughty and Horton are cheaper and both play ST. Trade Landry's ass for a ham sandich. This draft is deep with FS and OT. Horton and Doughty can't cover worth a damn, but then again, neither can Landry.
2) Kareem Moore is a meat-ball in helmet. Shanny & Allen don't like paying for meat-balls. I doubt his flunky ass makes it past camp.
3) Between bricks for hands and Zone coverage Hall the FS spot is hard enough. We should use a good pick on a FS and a NT.
4) The rest of the draft should go on the line and with a new RB.
The secondary are not a bunch of crown jewels. It's deeper than the O-line though. Without a good FS, passing teams will eat the Skins's lunch for em. A FS is a lot more important than a return guy. Shanny is good at getting them. I've never been a Shanny guy, but he knows his runners. Believe that!
That's all I'm saying.

You could line him up in the slot from time to time no doubt, depending on matchups, the D we're facing, etc

Cooley gets lined up in the slot (most of the good pass catching tight ends are).
Why couldn't he be lined up outside since he is physically superior to Kelly?

In ways we don't expect.

That's all I'm saying. The only thing making Moore a meat-head is the Mecheam TD and his response afterwards. It's not something that is coaching-proof. That he even made the interception in the first place shows what he can do. Not only that, isn't his rookie contract still in effect? We're paying peanuts for him.

That's about the only good thing about him. Coaching might help, so could a superior FS.
