Comment: Hicks has good size and strength with limited athletic ability. He has played both tackle and guard during his seven years in the league. He has decent initial pop off the line of scrimmage as a zone run-blocker and is best in a confined area. He uses his hands well to lock on but is inconsistent to stay connected to defenders. Hicks has average lateral agility and quickness, and gets exposed in space. He has enough strength and power to anchor well versus interior bull-rushers but isn't as effective versus quick counters and stunts. Hicks has value but lacks the athleticism and technique to be a consistent productive player.

Hicks sounds like a pretty good pick-up. Shanny wants competition at every position and Hicks should help provide that, plus he brings experience at multiple positions. He may not even become a starter but he brings depth and experience in zone blocking and that certainly helps.
