Colt could use an attitude adjustment maybe, but IMO this makes Zorn out to be a liar. Remember how he said he had "big plans" for Colt, praising his work ethic, and saying he hoped he would challenge TC15 for the backup job??

Yeah not exactly breaking news, we heard about this a few weeks back.

I don't think it says Zorn is a liar, it just says cutting Colt wasn't his say, so after the fact he had to spin things in a positive light is all. Coaches "lie" all the time expect we call it coach speak.

Zorn was clueless, I really don't put any credibility in anything he did or said. A guy who was aiding seniors and was out of the league walked off the street and made Zorn's offense look grade school in comparison.

what? if he wanted to there was a completely perfect opportunity for him to do so...injury and poor preformance by a 3rd string QB, perfect reason to get rid of Colt. And Chase was brought in and played well, so why didnt he cut him and stay with Chase? Im really not buying it

Ex-Redskins coach Jim Zorn reportedly wanted to cut QB Colt Brennan before the 2009 season started.
Brennan had a miserable 2009, playing poorly in three straight preseason games before landing on injured reserve with a torn labrum in his hip. He's also turned off some members of the organization with a cocky attitude (despite his lack of NFL success). Brennan isn't the quarterback of the future, and he may not make the team in

I don't think Zorn had much weight when it came to making decisions, even in the beginning. If Vinny said he had to keep him, he was the type of person to publicly make the most of it and try to stay positive.

Zorn may have in over his head as a coach and was put in a terrible situation with Vinny & Co. running things, but I'm sure he knows QBs. And I would say that if you're a rook with an attitude and you're playing poorly, you should be cut.

Zorn definitely wasn't calling the shots in regard to personnel, his hands were tied by Vinny.

In the end though who cares? It's officially the start of the 2010 season today, so let's just bury the Zorn/Vinny era. It's over.

Wow! A coach who is no longer here wanted to cut a 3rd string QB who won't be here much longer. Big news!!!
