Uncapped Game: How High Can We Go.

Heck might as well have some fun since we are going into this FA period with no cap.

1 year - $385K
2 years - $460K

Our current salary total for players under contract is $60,932,000

Does anyone feel like making projections for where we may end up in this years salary? No cap style projections, just pure salary. So if Sproles is given a 7M dollar contract +5M signing bonus he would add 12M to our total salary.

I haven't done any major number crunch, but I would put our salary figure at 118M. Remember that no dead cap or guaranteed money for players cut (ie portis only drops 7M based on his salary this year) count, only the 53 man roster come September (oh so far away)

If any cap experts want to join in and clarify the accounting numbers better that would be great too.

I have a question in this regard. Couldn't we sign whoever we sign this year a contract with a HUGE upfront payday and a million a year for each year of the contract after so if the salary cap comes back we would be safe. Like, for instance, if we gave Peppers (just for example) 80 million for 7 years (the numbers don't matter for the question), and it was 56 million salary year 1, 4 million each year after, no signing bonus.

I realize that is an extreme example, and you would run the risk of them getting injured in year one and you being out a lot of money, but the same thing goes with huge signing bonuses.

And where we have an advantage, one would assume. Chicago has 30million (supposedly) of available cash to pay out for free agent signings. That doesn't go to far if you are looking to get Peppers, for example.

Does the rule apply to free agents you sign? I wouldn't think so.

My understanding is it applies across the board. But don't know where to find a better answer. It doesn't apply to signing/option bonuses for sure.

Please! Vet min is so 2009. Now it's all about the trade down. You can't be a smart arm chair GM unless you constantly suggest that we trade down no matter what.

I thought I read somewhere where Snyder clears $300 million a year on just the team alone. So, I think the sky's the limit. Especially with Jerry Jones having to pay his big mortgage, now. Not too many teams in the cash position of the Skins.

There still is a CBA in place. It's just that the rules are different this year based on the circumstances.
