I'd rather make a push for Gaither. I'd feel comfortable trading our 2nd (preferably Carlos Rogers and a lower pick) for the guy. He's only 23 and played LT. His size (6'9" 350lbs or so makes him a better RT). Pair him with a LT at No. 4 and you have a pair of tackles similar to Samuels and Jansen when they were drafted.

Gaither is a LT (Oher plays RT) and would he fit in Shanny's zone block?? At 350 lbs. I would say not. Don't get me wrong, I think he's a good lineman, and if he fits, I wouldn't mind getting him.

i agree gaither probably isn't as quick of tackle shannahan would like but i'm sure he isn't a slug. He's opened plenty of room for Ray Rice and company to run the past couple of years and that's with 8 men in the box. Baltimore hasn't had any real WR threats to open up the offense and they still were able to crank in the running game.

If he has a good 20-yd shuttle and 3-cone drill, he sure as hell would be a good fit.

Looks like his Pro Day went well for him. His 3-cone drill and 20-yd shuttle is better than any OLinemen that fully participated in this year's combine

No doubt that Gaither is a quality player at left tackle. Just that he's not tailor made for this scheme and there are younger more qualified zone blocking options in Bulaga and Okung. Now if the Ravens start smoking crack and ask for a second round pick for Gaither then awesome.

Just so every knows I got clarification. If they take a restricted free agent they give up 2011 pick. I think it is worth looking at because the 2011 draft will probably be weak.

Thanks for that info, I did not realize that at all.

Are you sure about this? When the Panthers tendered Ricky Manning in the 2006 offseason, and the Bears offered him a contract (which Carolina did not match) the draft pick given to the Panthers was for the 2006 draft.

Also, when New England acquired Wes Welker from Miami in 2007, the draft picks were for the 2007 draft.

Unless there are changes due to the uncapped season about this, I think the draft picks given up are for this year, unless a trade is negotiated and the other team is willing to accept a 2011 pick.

What makes you say that? I'm not saying you're wrong but this time last year we had a handful of people thinking that this QB class was going to be the best one in a long time. Now half of the posters need to be dragged kicking and screaming to just be told that drafting a QB early isn't the end of the world nevermind be sold on the possible move.

Also if you look at Todd McShays mock draft from April 2009 for April 2010 you'll see just how difficult it is to project a draft class a year in advance.

His top 10 is actually pretty decent but a lot of the guys he projects near the second half are going to be 3rd and 4th rounders at best. I mean for goodness sake he had us drafting Ciron Black at 11th overall.

The reason I say that this year is so strong, is because so many juniors have come out early with the impending new CBA coming. So it only makes sense that if this year has allot of next years talent in it, that it will be weak. I think the Redskins are being very smart right now, because if there is a new CBA next year the free agent class will be incredible and it looks like they will have a ton of cap space.
