I am sure the dad, proud of his work and his son, took him up, told him exactly what to say, and when. Seems to me like a big ta do about nothing.

This helps explain why that airport sucks. And now it will suck even more with the main runway being closed for the next four months

Exactly what happen but of course in today's ultra conservative society everyone has to go nuts about it.
Similar thing happen to me at my old job, it was bring your kid to work day and one of the mom's brought in her 10 year old son. She got busy asked if I could help with showing her son around, no problem. He was bored so I suggested he answer my phone for a period of time, of course someone complained that a child answered my phone. Seriously I had all internal customers and all he was doing was saying hi then handing me the phone. Lucky my boss was like whatever to the complainer.

"today's ultra conservative society"?
Where have YOU been living? I want to move to where you are. :D
Call me nitpicky but I really don't want Daddy bouncing Jr. on his knee talking to pilots at one of the busiest airports in the country.
Bring your kid to work day is fine, just not in a situation like this.

So if you were the boss there what type of discipline would you do? Would you fire him? Sanction him and not allow him in the tower? or a disciplinary note in his folder?
I don't have a problem with putting a disciplinary note in his file, but any more than that seems absurd. After all, it appears he had to get permission to have his son there, the son was obviously supervised, and everyone in the planes and the tower were apparently aware.

Daddy is gonna get fired. He should, but it is a shame as there is a shortage of airtraffic controllers.
It is also a very important occupation these days.

No questions he's fired based on the security violation alone

I thought after Obama was elected and the dems took office the left declared conservatism dead. Now I find out we are living in an ultra conservative society so which one is it?
If the guy has no prior history of doing dumb crap they should just give him a slap on the hand.
