Despite his perceived lack of passion for the game, we're still talking about a guy that's almost a lock for 10+ sacks per year and has been one of the most productive players at his position since he came in to the league.

I'm not crying that we're not getting him, I think we've got a lot of needs where we need to spend money on... but I think a lot of people are underestimating the kind of player he is.

I think i have.

The new staff could definetly have him playing good ball too.

I was guilty of that. But I still would be happy not to sign him because of value-for-the-money concerns.

Which side of the line did Pashos play on in SF? I wouldnt mind starting the season with Clifton at LT and Pashos at RT. We'd definitely need to draft a tackle by round two, though.

It was interesting to read that Shanahan is very high on Rinehart. so, concievably, we're looking at a starting line of:

LT - Clifton
LG - Dockery
C - Rabach
RG - Rinehart
RT - Pashos

Not the best OL in the world, but certainly better than any line involving Mike Williams, Levi Jones, and Stephon Heyer.

Keep in mind that last years experience clearly teaches us that we need 6 or 7 O-lineman to be competitive. Count on Kory L to possibly be a starter by the end of the year as well as a rookie or two to be a factor. Someone like Pouncey would set us up at Guard for a while.

I'm guilty of it as well, i just think he constitutes too high of a risk, not only of not performing himself, but the demoralizing effect it would have on the team - to bring in a free agent, pay him haynesworth money, and then watch him act like he doesn't care about football. he could get away with that to a certain degree in carolina because he was a home-grown draft pick, a "true" panther - but i think the team moral problems would be amplified significantly if peppers comes in as a free agent, makes a ton of money, and then doesnt put forth the effort to show he's worth it.

True. That means we need several more than just 6 or 7 in camp to create serious competition for spots.

absolutely. i was just naming potential starters. word has it that weigman has already signed his contract with us. wonder what spot we'd put him at. no matter how many free agent OL we bring in, we still need to devote atleast one round 1-3 draft pick to the OL in each of the next few years.

I honestly dont undertand giving Rabach 12.3MM though. i don't think anyone else would have tried to pay him that kind of money and i dont see him as being our starter for the next 3 years.

He doesn't have to be. Cut him in camp this year or next and it is no-harm, no-foul.
