Berry is a great athlete who is still learning to be a great defender, but his potential is off the charts. He has good size and strength, excellent quickness and a high football IQ. He makes plays more with his raw athleticism than with technique at this point, but he breaks on the ball well and has very good ball skills. As a quarterback on offense, he’s used to having the ball in his hands which makes him dangerous on defense after an interception. Berry has good hands on defense and can go up and get the football if it’s up for grabs. He’s very explosive and has good closing speed and raw athleticism.

Brings big-time athletic ability to the table for a quarterback prospect. Has a strong arm and above average speed and elusiveness. Showed positive leadership ability in quarterbacking his team to the state title as a high school senior. Physical enough player to also play linebacker or fullback should quarterback not work out. Needs to work on accuracy, touch, and gain a better grasp of the fundamentals of the passing game.

Bulaga is a tremendous jumbo athlete who plays tight end while also acting as a sixth offensive lineman in high school. He projects as an offensive tackle in college with his excellent footwork, big frame and long arms. He has plenty of room to fill out, although it’s doubtful he’ll end up too much over 300 pounds. He is a bit raw as a blocker, often turning players inside rather than engaging them, but when he gets his hands on an opponent and locks up, he’s successful at holding his block. Bulaga could also be a standout defensive tackle in college with his quickness off the football and his motor.

Davis is a huge offensive tackle who locks up quickly and can overpower the competition with his sheer size. He has good agility but his strength is enveloping defenders in the run game and getting out of his stance quickly in pass protection. Davis extends his arms well and likes to hit, using a strong left-handed stiff arm to knock defenders off balance in pass protection. He likes to punch, slide his feet, anchor and punch again, an aggressive pass blocking technique. Davis is more likely a right tackle or a guard prospect unless he improves his footwork, but he will be a load to run behind and is very solid in pass protection. Davis anchors very well and has a strong base, allowing him to handle even the best bull rush attempts. He also avoids over-stepping and stays on balance for counter moves. Davis plays high at time and while he’s successful getting to the next level often, he has trouble with moving targets at times. A very good athlete for his size, Davis relies more on sheer bulk and size at the high school level and needs to work more on his ability to move.

Clausen is as mechanically developed as any quarterback in the last decade. He has a very quick release he delivers from ear level, a strong arm and excellent accuracy. Clausen is mobile enough to get outside the pocket when needed and throws well on the run. He has excellent feet, makes quick and smart decisions and displays excellent poise and pocket presence. Clausen throws a nice deep ball, but his strength is in the intermediate passing game where he can deliver the ball with the most zip. He leads his targets well and knows how to throw the ball in tight coverage, putting it where only his receiver can catch it. Clausen gets into his drops quickly and sets well before most of his throws. He has good ball skills but needs to sell play action a bit better. He needs to add strength and fill out his frame.

CultBrennan59 02-28-2010, 05:46 PM ^haha I agree, and this just goes to show you that the whole star rankings are inaccurate, if they are to judge their pro potential. Also if you go to rivals.com and watch Sam Bradford in high school, theres nothing really about him that makes you go OOhhhh he's a future pro QB.

SBXVII 03-01-2010, 12:30 AM Someone else here mentioned Charles Brown and I blew it off cause I hadn't heard of him. Then watching him at the Combine...WOW, the kid looked good, and has an arm. I was impressed with him.
I'll still say I think not picking up one of the top ranked QB's at #4 will hurt us in the long run only cause if we don't we will be in the same boat we are right now, with a coached up QB who is not a franchise QB. We'll pick apart everything he does wrong and say it's because he was drafted in the 2nd round or beyond.
But if whoever Shanahan wants is gone at #4 then obviously take a OL or move back if possible for more picks and pick up one of the other QB's in the 2nd round.
Lotus 03-01-2010, 12:33 AM Cool thread, Dirtbag. Thanks.

Actually I'm not very confident that Brown will make it the second round. Theres actually a guy though right now from Indiana that has recently been moving up draft boards named Rodger Saffold. He played well against Greg Hardy (DE Ole Miss) at the East-West All Star Game and is athletic enough to be a zone blocker.
Still as it stands today I want Okung-McCoy. Unless we go retro-chic and trade down, but thats assuming that KC leap frogs us to take Okung.
Cool thread, Dirtbag. Thanks.
Lol, thanks it was a pain in the ass to make. I was scared that no one was reading it.
Lotus 03-01-2010, 12:49 AM ^ No, it's cool to see where everyone came from. I didn't know that Clausen had been the top ranked player in the country.
53Fan 03-01-2010, 12:53 AM Yeah it's a cool thread Dirtbag. I haven't posted on it before but it's interesting to see. So Tryon was a 4 star prospect huh?
