So Tryon was a 4 star prospect huh? ^ No, it's cool to see where everyone came from. I didn't know that Clausen had been the top ranked player in the country. Thanks guys, it really is crazy though. In this class, out of all the 5 star prospects the only one's that really lived up to their potential, at least at the collegiate level, were Spiller, Gerald McCoy, Eric Berry, and Jimmy Clausen. Tebow definitely lived up to the hype as a college player but it's now working against him as a pro. CRedskinsRule 03-01-2010, 08:38 AM Yeah, good thread Dirtbag, thanks for the effort. I was surprised about Clausen and Bradford's ratings, and LeFevour looks like he's 15 in his picture! SmootSmack 03-01-2010, 09:14 AM Actually I'm not very confident that Brown will make it the second round. Theres actually a guy though right now from Indiana that has recently been moving up draft boards named Rodger Saffold. He played well against Greg Hardy (DE Ole Miss) at the East-West All Star Game and is athletic enough to be a zone blocker. Preach Brotha! He was 12 years old when he was born. freddyg12 03-01-2010, 10:03 AM What jumped out at me about these were: 1) Bradford, a 4.28 gpa in high school! 2) Suh only benched 300. He must've reallly gotten stronger, or else his comination of quickness & strength makes him seem like he's twice as strong as so many o linemen. 300 lbs. isn't that much relatively. D. Thomas' bench was listed at 365 I think. I don't get too caught up in the rankings, but I'll give credit to the scouts. I think overall you can look at all these guys and say that they were noticed early on, all got scholarships, all will play in the nfl. Generally kids that are ranked high as prospects fare well if they don't have personal problems or injuries. There are kids that fly under the radar that become starts, but they're the exception. Dirtbag59 03-01-2010, 02:49 PM How come Orakpo looks like a man among boys even when coming out of high school?? Actually that pic is a little misleading given that it's a close up. I mean 220 pounds for a high schooler is pretty big but before he looked like this http://misterirrelevant.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/brian-orakpo-is-strong.jpg He was this, http://media.scout.com/Media/Image/7/74772m.JPG 2) Suh only benched 300. Thomas' bench was listed at 365 I think. Bench only means so much. You really want to know how strong a football player is look at his squat max. 425 pounds coming out of high school. Also keep in mind that in his profile Devin is a JuCo transfer so he has about two years on Suh. Still even then 300 pound bench is a lot for a high school prospect. Preach Brotha! (http://www.thewarpath.net/664713-post75.html) He would be an amazing 4th or 5th round pick but recently scouts Inc bumped him up to a second round prospect. Personally from what I've seen written about him he's worth it, but only if most of the tackle prospects are gone. Still I would take him over Capers. I also think at this point I would take DuCasse over Capers but at the same time if I could take two tackles Capers would be he second one I would take due to his experience as a blind side RT. It would seem that Oklahoma strength and conditioning coach Jerry Schmidt sees things a little differently at least if Longview, Texas offensive lineman Trent Williams is a proper indication. saden1 04-23-2010, 03:31 AM How come Orakpo looks like a man among boys even when coming out of high school?? He looks like a scary man in a middle of a war-zone having a really bad day! |
