It's hard to say. Can you call either one of them the definitive starter? Probably not. I'd take Portis over Parker at this point, assuming clean bill of health from each. Don't know that we'll take an RB high enough to guarantee a start. We'll address the position but I don't think that we'll end up with THAT guy.

We're definitely going to need someone to share the load with Portis whether it be Parker or a player to be named later. As we all know, gone are the days when it could be expected for one back to carry a sixteen game load alone. We're going to give Parker a look see, but in the final analysis our options at RB could be limitless. Would like to see us get younger at the position because durability is always an issue with RB's, youth should serve us better.

Beat writer Mark Gaughan speculates that veteran FS Donte Whitner could be on the trading block.

Whitner played behind George Wilson at the strong safety spot late last season and he isn't going to unseat impressive second-year man Jairus Byrd at free safety. Still, Whitner would be high-quality depth and it's unlikely the Bills could get equal value for that in a trade....

Look like there still could be meat on the bones of a trade with the Bills for Whitner....
Anyone think hes a good option at FS?

I wanted to go back to this question of whether to bring Rolle here or not. He's a good football player, but I think our current rotation of safeties and a healthy Chris Horton will be sufficient.

I think the key to our secondary is whether or not Laron Landry can successfully slide to his more natural position and play like the beast we know he can be.

BTW out of the safeties that are available I would still prefer Ryan Clark or Darren Sharper over Rolle.

Eh, I don't know - how many good years does Sharper really have left? The guy is what, 34 years old. Don't get me wrong, he's a beast. But I think Gregg Williams system also gave him a lot room to be a true safety, if you will. There's no guarantee that if you bring him here, Sharper still nabs nine picks.

I say we roll with what we got. I wouldn't mind seeing Ryan Clark back, but at the right price.

I'd take Atogwe over all of them. I think we should pick him up.

Perhaps the question with Rolle was not whether he's a good player or not as opposed to his asking price. How much more does the team want to invest in that particular position since it's their intention to not invest too heavily in positions where there's not a dire need?

[QUOTE=Pocket$ $traight;670704]Sorry, I hate to burst your bubble but Kenny Phillips is probably done. They wouldn't have needed Rolle if Phillips was going to be able to play the way he did before he got hurt.

Nope , may I remind you we will have a new DC,and a new scheme.

What is it that you know about KP that no other expert knows, that makes you believe he is done?

I would be upset if we cut all those guys, talk about the status quo being over and then sign a safety for 37 million.

I would agree had there been a cap this year...

Many people, and not just people here, are assuming that the Rolle signing signals that Phillips is done.
