By all means, if the internal evaluation comes back that Landry's problems can't be fixed, we should sign a free safety in free agency. But then the goal, obviously, is to replace Landry. And that should be clear.

It still makes a difference in the way that salary, more than anything else, seems to dictate usage patterns. If you sign a guy at 7 million to play RB, then he's pretty much playing three downs.

Maybe that's not a bad thing, but Sproles is one of the rare guys in the league who has never run behind zone blocking at any level. Not at K-State, and not with the Chargers. Marty and Norv, independantly, are two of the only offensive minded coaches who have really not embraced zone blocking concepts in any capacity, at least to this point.

Zorn's scheme was primarily zone blocking, but there were some man elements in the week to week gameplan (likely due to Bugel).

I guess I wouldn't mind it since we don't know what Portis will be able to do since his concusion. Then there's the fact that we have a guy on the team who is, I'm guessing, making 400K to 500K to pretty much play 4-7 plays the whole game. :) ... Cartwright.

A little bit surprising move but...

Redskins Insider - Redskins make an offer to Daniels (http://voices.washingtonpost.com/redskinsinsider/jason-reid/redskins-make-an-offer-to-dani.html)

WTF? I know we can't fix everything in one year but can we get rid of the old dead wood and make an attempt to get younger across the board? Daniels is 37y/o. OMG. Wasn't he cut last year and brought back for a one year deal?

Is 2 or 3 = 1.5? I don't know what he is worth so I threw some numbers out there. He is viewed as a part time back and we are already paying a runningback 10 million so how much should we really commit to the postion.

If Sproles is looking for Reggie Bush $? If so, pass.
You said if he wanted that much you'd pass, so I gave you a lower number.

Has anyone heard much about us looking to pick up Peppers? I know that our name gets thrown into most the the FA rumors because we are always looking to "make a splash," but it is briefly metioned in the Haynesworth post below.

Redskins Insider - Haynesworth is the key in Redskins' use of 3-4 defense (http://voices.washingtonpost.com/redskinsinsider/albert-haynesworth/haynesworth-is-the-key-in-reds.html#more)

All I've read is some in the organization think he could get a lot of sacks for us.

A front 7 with the likes of Haynesworth, Orakpo, and Peppers? Ouch

Peppers, not interested...take that money, and its gonna be a ton, and spend it on some offense or bank it for the following year.

^ wrong! Spend the money now in an uncapped year and make the contracts front loaded in order to make them cap friendly in subsequent years.
