Ok. So to play a little bit of devil's advocate here. If Okung, Bradford, and Suh are gone at 4. Do you take Buluga OR does Shanny take CJ Spiller to be our feature back for the next 6 years. I am not saying I would take him because there are many holes that we have to fill. But a guy like Spiller must intriuge Shanny because he is so versitile. I could see MS not reaching for Clausen and drafting CJ. I know I have heard of taking Berry at 4 to, but I think you then get us into Lions territory when you are talking about the Skins using there last 4 top ten draft picks on secondary guys.

Shanhan has never taken a 1st round RB. NEVER. That's why Knowshon getting drafted where he did last year made its fair share of noise.

I would rather him take Davis or trade back in this scenario. I know Spiller is a very talented player, but given the lack of FA o-linemen acquisitions at the tackle position, I would rather see Davis picked up or trade down to get a Bruce Campbell. I know trade down is easier said than done, but I maybe a team would be willing to do this with Clausen or Berry available.

Take into account the way Shannahan has drafted in the past, its a good bet that Jimmy Clausen will be the pick at #4 if Bradford is off the board..

Okung isn't the only guy. I mentioned this before but I have seen Davis ahead of Okung on more than one ranking.
I personally think that from a draft standpoint Davis should never be rated ahead of Okung. However I have started to notice what a lot of the hype is about and given his experience in a zone blocking scheme he wouldn't be a bad consolation prize should Okung and Bradford be off the board when we select.
Obviously one thing Davis has is size. However at the same time he's relatively quick for a tackle. His greatest asset though right now in pass protection seems to be his punch. You don't necessarily notice it when you watch a game at full speed but if you pay close attention you can see how strong he really is at least in terms of upper body strength.
What I don't like about him though is a lot of plays where I don't see him finish. Maybe he's trying to avoid penalties but one thing I constantly saw in the Bulaga/Okung highlight/lowlight videos were a wiilingness to finish on every play.
Theres also concerns with Davis about motivation and weight control which could easily go either way when he becomes a millionare. On one hand you wonder if he's a poor college student that doesn't really have the means to eat right and when he gets rich he can afford the right foods or even go so far as to hire a personal cheif. At the same time does he take his hefty signing bonus and buy an aisle worth of chips?
Then you have to wonder if a staff like Shanhan's that preaches dicisipline and accountability will be able to get the most out of him. He really is an intriguing prospect, the question becomes do the pro's outweight the cons with Anthony Davis as a Washington Redskin.

I agree pocket. I am surprised we haven't made a play for Smoots replacement yet. Are there any decent FA corners still on the market that are actually serviceable?
Lito Sheppard intrigues me. He is under 30, knows the East and I am sure he would love to stick it to Philly.
Obviously, Philly and the Jets were able to part ways with him so that is a red flag.

Yeah, he was sent packing by two teams, but I wouldn't mind picking him up while either Tryon and/or Barnes develop. Heck, maybe we can move Rogers for a third rounder if we pick Sheppard.

You put Rolle and Kenny Phillips back there together and you have already upgrade to 1 of the top DB groups in the NFC.
On NFL Network they were discussing the Rolle signing and said they had heard rumblings that people inside NY may think Phillips will never be the same again as his knee is not healing well. The main thing they said that stuck with me was that his knee is now bone against bone because of it's inability to heal properly and that's definitely not a good sign if true.

Don't tell Giantone, he will start talking about Phat Al getting winded. I will take a guy who gets tired over a guy who needs a knee replacement.
Is this really a surprise? Phillips was a free safety who was playing at a high level before he got hurt. The Giants, who have a lot of holes on defense, choose to spend 37 million on.....a free safety.
