Oh, I have a question. What is up with Barnes, the CB we took out of maryland last year in the 3rd round???? Is he even on the squad, or on the prac. squad???? Is he set to bust like a balloon, or is there still hope that he could be at least a nickel for us????

Give the guy a little time. He had some run at the end of the year.

Tryon took a while too and played the nickel pretty well last year.

But, for all of those who think we should drop Carlos for a bag of peanuts think again. Not only do we need to keep Carlos, I think we need another veteran corner who can start.

If we are going to use Hall to return kicks (which should be a no brainer) we definitely need another veteran corner.

I agree pocket. I am surprised we haven't made a play for Smoots replacement yet. Are there any decent FA corners still on the market that are actually serviceable?

are you talking about a visit or signing?

Sorry, I hate to burst your bubble but Kenny Phillips is probably done. They wouldn't have needed Rolle if Phillips was going to be able to play the way he did before he got hurt.

The Bears and Seattle are the only teams acting like Vinny Cerrato. We are choosing to spend WISELY this year. There are plenty of signings left in our future, just no overspending.

If we sign Kemo and a linebacker we will be just as formidable up front. Hell, we may play Phat Al at linebacker. Haslett says he can do it.

That was a tribute to his versatility, you can bet your life that AH will not see time at LB.

Detroit seems to be building up their d-line in free agency. I wonder if this is clearing the way to take Okung at #2 instead of Suh?

that'd be one expensive d-line if they added suh

I think that I mentioned that could complicate things with Okung's draft point too

I mean they could always go Berry or trade back too

If the Lions did take Okung there still are top quality linemen available and I am sure the FO has a lot of them scouted. AS long as Bruce and his boys have a solid plan, that is all that counts. No more ad hoc getting the best player or more accurately the "sexy" pic.

If Okung is gone at #4, I can see us taking Clausen. I'm not saying that I necessarily want us to, I'm just trying to be realistic. I wish we knew what Double Shanahan think about Clausen.

Been thinking about the possibility too. I trust Shanny/Allen far more than any previous time of Snyder's ownership (w/ Vinny finally out completely) but it's not like they're infallible. I don't know the first thing to look for in a college QB beyond the obvious: pocket presence, ability to move, accuracy, arm strength and quick release. Bottom line is neither Clausen nor Bradford's tape is overly impressive. I think every year teams get caught up in the dream of a franchise QB, often selecting a guy who just doesn't have it. I hope we don't waste the 4th overall pick on a dud.

Okung isn't the only guy. I mentioned this before but I have seen Davis ahead of Okung on more than one ranking.
