Definitely. He's a workout freak...probably why he's not in LT or CP condition.
As Long As We're Talking Running Backs Over 30 Years OldMonkeydad 02-25-2010, 12:44 PM Definitely. He's a workout freak...probably why he's not in LT or CP condition. celts32 02-25-2010, 12:46 PM Would anyone be interested in Thomas Jones If we go the old free agent route then he has much more in the tank then LT or Westbrook. I think I prefer Chester Taylor slightly. Would really rather draft a RB and leave the free agency dollars to other positions. MTK 02-25-2010, 12:50 PM NY Jets might release running back Thomas Jones if he doesn't take paycut | - NJ.com (http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2010/02/ny_jets_might_release_rb_thoma.html) I would definitely take him over CP BigHairedAristocrat 02-25-2010, 12:58 PM I would too, but CP is under contract with us already and Jones isn't. I know the seasons uncapped, but I don't think Jones is sufficently superior to CP to justify cutting Portis, paying him anyways, and then picking up Jones and paying him probably close to the same thing. Just not worth it. MTK 02-25-2010, 01:00 PM With no cap who cares, it's a perfect time to dump CP. Snyder has shown in the past he's got no problem with paying a guy to not play for the Skins so it's not out of the question. Monkeydad 02-25-2010, 01:00 PM Split backfield with 2 TEs. :) Swarley 02-25-2010, 01:09 PM He brother used ot be a Cowboy. I don't like him. I'm pretty sure they both grew up as Skins fans though. SBXVII 02-25-2010, 02:03 PM Well it all depends. 1) Has Portis been cleared to play and what has the doctor recomended? If he's not cleared then he can't play and might be forced to retire. He could be cleared but recomended not to play any longer so no further damage occurrs. I don't want to see the team in a position like the Eagles were last yr with Westbrook. He comes back and take another hard hit and easily gets a concussion due to his previous one and is sitting on the bench taking a roster spot while we wait for a doctor to clear him. Plus he's almost 30. The only benifit we get from CP right now is he knows the scheme Shanahan will run. I'd rather get younger and healthier at the positions but if we cut Portis, Betts, and Rock and picked up one Vet FA and had Ganther, Mason, Alridge and a drafted RB I'm in. diehardskin2982 02-25-2010, 02:11 PM I really hope the staff fully evaluates our current Redskins and puts together a RB group that will average atleast 5 ypc. We have too many runningbacks on this roster with little to no value and it would be better to draft some fresh legs in here rather than chase retreads GTripp0012 02-25-2010, 02:23 PM Don't think he has anything more in the tank than either Westbrook or Tomlinson. Westbrook offers the most future value of any of the available thirty plus RBs (though I like Kevin Faulk personally). I think if the playoffs are a small indication, Jones is pretty much done. He might hang on for a year or two, but hopefully not with us. |
