SmootSmack 02-24-2010, 12:29 PM Prosecution: Slain Bronco Darrent Williams was an innocent bystander - The Denver Post (http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_14458514) Wow! SBXVII 02-24-2010, 12:43 PM I read that and didn't put a whole lot of weight on it other then Marshall himself feels like he might have. Lose a friend and you start wondering if anything could have been done differently. They went to a bar and Marshall got into an arguement with another paytron. These things happen all the time they just don't end up in someone waiting outside the bar with a gun to get revenge. Gotta blame the idiot who shot Williams for not respecting life more vs. blaming Marshall. But I would agree with him I think I would be ready to leave Denver also. BigHairedAristocrat 02-24-2010, 12:48 PM what a bunch of stupid thugs. why on earth would anyone want to go to a club that was frequented by gang members? its like these guys know better than to BE in a gang, but they are enticed by the lifestyle enough that they want to get as close to it as possible. If you play with fire, youre going to get burned. firstdown 02-24-2010, 12:59 PM I just wonder why a bunch of highly paid football players with alot to loose are hanging in a bar filled with gang members? Nothing good can ever come from that and it was all of their choices to stay there and party with the gangs. skinsfan69 02-24-2010, 01:25 PM what a bunch of stupid thugs. why on earth would anyone want to go to a club that was frequented by gang members? its like these guys know better than to BE in a gang, but they are enticed by the lifestyle enough that they want to get as close to it as possible. If you play with fire, youre going to get burned. i was thinking the same thing. why hang out in places that shady people go to...but when i was younger i probably went to places i would never ever go now. we have to remember a lot of these guys are still in their early 20's. it still doesn't give the right for some gang member thug to resolve things w/ a gun. Even if you get in an altercation with someone and exchange words, you shouldn't be blamed because some coward feels "disrespected" and decides to throw away his life and take another person's life. For those saying, "They shouldn't have been there", they weren't at the local watering hole in the bad part of town. This was a high profile club and they were hanging out with NBA players inside. It just so happens that some drug dealers (who typically have a lot of cash to spend) were a few feet away. The last time I checked, clubs don't ask you what your occupation is when you walk in. Very true. But when you're an athlete you simply can't or should not go to certain places. Night clubs and strip clubs are number on the list. What's the old saying...Nothing good happens after midnight. It's kind of sad but it's the world we live in today. SmootSmack 02-24-2010, 02:47 PM Often times, when these guys go to nightclubs they come in and out of secret backdoor entrances, escorted into their own VIP section and are surrounded by a select crowd of people. I used to (well two or three times) organize parties down in DC featuring local athletes. You know, you've seen the fliers. "Come celebrate Chris Samuels' Birthday Live at Club Ego!! Starring Chris Samuels! With special guests Tre Johnson, Shawn Barber, Jerry Stackhouse, Miguel Tejada!!" Those guys would go straight to a special VIP lounge. They weren't hanging out with Joe Blow out by the bar. I mean it doesn't always happen that way, but my point is for most athletes going to a nightclub after midnight is often not the same as it is for you and me. Which is also why I can't understand why they have to carry guns all the time for their protection. They're protected like no one's business Slingin Sammy 33 02-24-2010, 02:49 PM Very true.
