tryfuhl 02-23-2010, 11:07 PM eventually it would be very cool if we could figure out ways that we could help each other, either by information, services, discounts, etc that we can offer each other.. and knowing who contains/offers these things
my proposal is that we mention our jobs/careers, specialties, hookups (if comfortable), etc and we figure out our network of expertise around the site
being as that we're all united by a common cause having nothing to do with who we are by life choices we should have a very broad base of fans.. everything from ditch diggers to lawyers (not to elevate or make light of any career) that can help each other
for example.. I've worked retail, alternative health, etc
some key interests/knowledge that I hold happen to be health and nutrition, of course my work, computing, etc.. I can expand on actual expertise, experience, etc
say SkinsFan23 (fictional user, I think?) is a roofer, we have a list of users/specialties and when someone has a roof leak he can look to that guy for helping points or even a service referral
what do you guys think? I've done this elsewhere and been able to hook people up with product discounts, advice, etc and it's a great resource that ties the community together
Schneed10 02-23-2010, 11:25 PM This is a decent idea. I'm not located near most of the Warpath membership, but luckily what I can offer can be done over the internets.

- Personal financial planning, budgeting and investment advice (I'm NOT a stockpicker, though)
- Advice on using Microsoft Excel, Access, and some other database constructs
- Some business consulting, if you've got a business idea run it by me, I'll think up as many hard questions as I can which you'll need to find the answers to, which hopefully will make you successful.
- Some advice on federal tax returns, though if you're self-employed forget it, that's over my head.
- Tutoring in math and statistics

- Occasional legal advice.
- Computer networking assistance.
- Redskins tickets (lol)

Lol, now all the salary cap stuff makes more sense. Funny though, if I had actually stopped to think about it I would have pegged you as an accountant.
tryfuhl 02-24-2010, 12:19 AM Great start schneed, sounds like you're quite analytical, which isn't a great surprise, but the depth of it is nice
Trample the Elderly 02-24-2010, 12:26 AM Finding sites has always been helpful to me.

GMScud 02-24-2010, 01:45 AM I like the idea of this thread. I'll play.
My education background is business administration. I worked as a mortgage broker for a while, so I know a lot about the finance side of real estate. I no longer work in the industry, but I know lots of people who do. Anyone looking for an honest, knowledgeable mortgage consultant, I know plenty of people. Also, I have a few realtors in the DC area that I'm close with. Basically, if you're looking to purchase or refinance, I can help out for sure.
Currently I'm the beverage director for a restaurant group here in the DC area. If you want a reservation and killer service at 4 of DC's top 100 restaurants, I can help you there. However, I'm not willing to openly discuss what specific restaurants I work for, so PM me if you're interested there.
I also have a lot of experience with exercise and nutrition. I'm a bonafide gym rat. Also, my fiancee has multiple personal training certifications and has a degree in applied physiology and kinesiology. So anyone who wants any advice on workouts or nutrition tips, I'm happy to help you out.
Oh, and I'm a Florida Gator, so if you need any advice on kicking the crap out of Tennessee or Florida State, I'm your guy. :)
SmootSmack 02-24-2010, 07:06 AM This is like the sober version of Angry's Pay It Forward idea I take it.
When it comes time to buy a home, I'll be asking a lot of questions to many of you here

As many know, I moonlight as a boxer, and have just started getting into MMA. I have been transitioning into a role as trainer/coach, and as of last year, started working with walk in amateurs, or people just looking to develop a training/fitness program...
mredskins 02-24-2010, 08:22 AM to bad this didn't come out when I worked in Marriott Revenue Mgmt, I use to be able to get hotel rooms for $29 a night for myself and friends and family.
Now I just build cost models for the Army. So if you want to cost something out in then year dollars, base year dollars, etc...I be happy to help.
SolidSnake I too have an Associates Degree in Automotive Technology from North Virginia Community College in Manasas, I went at night to further my hobby. Tons of respect for folks who turn wrenches for a living, hard work.
BleedBurgundy 02-24-2010, 08:40 AM Cool thread.
I'm a network administrator for Mars, Inc. (M&Ms, Snickers, etc) so I'm happy to help with any IT related issues. Also get candy hookups from time to time, so there's that... In a past life I was a broadcast journalist, but gave it up due to being absolutely miserable. That said, I have strong editing/proofreading skills, so if anyone needs a second set of eyes, hit me up.
