I honestly feel Rabach is a good back-up....with the emphasis on...back-up.

He's definitely a Bugel guy, so perhaps his final evaluation of Rabach suggested we make an effort to resign him.

Saints offer tenders to 13 RFAs, but not Jahri Evans or Mike Bell

The New Orleans Saints have announced that 13 of the team's 18 potential restricted free agents have received qualifying offers.

They are: defensive tackle Remi Ayodele, defensive end, Anthony Hargrove, offensive tackle Jammal Brown, offensive tackle Jermon Bushrod, offensive tackle Zach Strief, safety Roman Harper, safety Chris Reis, safety Usama Young, linebacker Marvin Mitchell, wide receiver Lance Moore, wide receiver Courtney Roby, tight end David Thomas, and running back Pierre Thomas.

The Saints did not specify the amount of the tenders; Mike Triplett has reported the specific levels for Bushrod (second round), Strief (second round), and Young (third round).

Anyone wanna sign a RFA from the Saints and give up a pick?

I'm not really in a huge hurry to give up picks, especially when I don't know about those guys individually, so no opinion I guess. They've still got a week or so to tender them, maybe just waiting to get up with their agents at the combine.

In his defense, Rabach has had a lot more responsibility than the average center over the last four years. He's been a pretty darn important piece...of a unit that has been pretty crappy overall.

He'd probably be less of a disaster if Shanahan allows the quarterback to call his own protections, but he's still going to get killed against larger nose tackles in the running game, and by anyone with two legs in the passing game.

Better get used to saying that about all our O-Lineman.

I rather like the idea of giving them LL and getting one of their OT's from them. I know someone on the site pointed out that we might be able to help each other out, but can't remember who...

I believed it was Smootsmack who brought up the idea..

However, I'm not sure if I would like the idea.. Giving up a 2nd rounder (or trading Landry) for a proven LT might sounds good.. But I really believe we would get better player if we draft a T with our 2nd round pick by drafting Charles Brown or whichever T falls down to 2nd round slot.. Jammal Brown is 28 years old, which means he would only have maybe 4 years left in him.. Jermon Bushrod is 25, however, from what I saw in the super bowl game.. Bushrod almost couldn't handle Freeney by himself - Freeney had fracture foot or something.. Which means Bushrod wouldn't be able to handle a healthy Freeney-alike player..

I think (or hope) Landry will become the player this year that we expected him to be last two seasons.. If we traded Landry to Saints for either T and Landry emerges as elite player, then they definitely would have gotten the better value out of this trade..

The funny thing is our draft might end up a lot like the Falcons draft in 2008. Take the QB first, get a second round pick for a player and then trade up into the first to draft a Tackle from USC. All the while getting a third round pick. That would be a great day. Now lets hope Buddy Nix is crazy enough to fork over a 2nd rounder for Campbell, because personally I'm not getting rid of Campbell for anything less then a second round pick.

Well, with what I have heard, I still think that the best avenue would be to trade DOWN, and pick up a third rounder. Draft Bruce campbell late in the first round, around the 25-27 pick. With the second round pick, YOU GOTTA GET CIRON BLACK. The guy is a BEAST and is being overlooked right now. Then in the third, and ive been saying this for two onths now, assuming the trade down occurs, u gotta get Newhouse from TCU. Right there, we have Both tackles, a guard to go with Dock, and Rabach gets one season to redeem hisself. Not a bad line, alot of youth, but a GREAT base for our outlook for next season, drafting Jake Locker at any cost. Agree? Doable?
